Our transition year students graduated this evening after a valedictory ceremony in our sports hall. Pictured here are the students who graduated with distinction with our Principal Mr. R McHugh, Deputy Principal Ms. M McDonald, 4th Year Head Mr. S Meehan & Ty Programme Coordinator Mr. E McCabe. Mr. G Coyle P.E.Dept presented Liam Conway with the highly prestigious Mark McElvaney Memorial Shield which is presented to the outstanding sportsman in transition year.

Members of the Amber Flag committee were delighted to recently find out that their Amber Flag application had been successful. Today the committee received their amber flag as an acknowledgement of the work done in relation to mental health throughout the school year.

Some of the second year students in St Macartans College getting the final preparations in place for their charity fun run/walk which will take place in the school grounds tomorrow Friday afternoon. Their chosen charity is the Gavin Glynn foundation. One of their classmates has received generous support from this foundation in recent weeks and the boys decided to organise the event to raise funds instead of going on a school tour this year. So far they have raised an amount far beyond their expectations. They would like to extend a huge thank you to all who have supported this very worthy cause. Watch this page for an update on the amount raised when all monies have been received. Best of luck tomorrow boys!

Ulster Schools Athletics Update

Two more medals this morning for St. Macartan's students. Eoin Mc Kenna silver in 400m hurdles and Cian Mc Kenna silver in minor shot putt. Cian was beaten by a new Ulster Schools record.
Ulster Schools Athletics Success for Sem boys

Two Sem students created some school sporting history by taking medals in the pole vault and steeplechase events in the Ulster Schools Athletics finals yesterday.
Jack Murphy who trains weekly for the pole vault in Donegal won a bronze medal in the senior pole vault while Liam McKenna who travels each week to Belfast to train for his chosen event took the silver medal in the senior steeplechase race. Best wishes to all Sem boys competing in day 2 of the finals today at the Antrim Forum.
