Sion Hill is delighted to be one of only four secondary schools in Ireland to have been awarded the European Quality Label 2018. The eTwinning action is an initiative of the European Commission which aims to encourage European schools to collaborate using Information and Communication Technologies by providing the necessary infrastructure. This year’s Third Year students of Spanish won this award for the eTwinning project they did in Second Year with our eTwinning partner schools in Spain, Italy, France and Germany. All of the project work was done entirely in Spanish by all of the participants. The project entitled “Mi vida y yo” incorporated the collaborative use of multi-media technology in the communicative tasks. Multi-national teams created animated presentations of themselves, original graphic designs for ideal homes and video-clips on school life, all narrated in Spanish. Individual students also communicated on an ongoing basis on the messaging and forum pages in our project’s eTwinning TwinSpace, comparing aspects of life in each country through personal accounts, surveys, etc. The project was praised by Léargas and eTwinning for its "practical tasks, well-organised TwinSpace and very good curricular integration”.
