Student Enterprise Success for TY students

Congratulations to our TY students Luke Ryan, Josh McGill, Sean Sweeney and Ruadhán Sheerin whose handmade soap business ‘Glan’ has recently been crowned winners of the senior category in the county final of the prestigious Student Enterprise Programme.
 
The team impressed judges on the day with their professionalism and were also awarded best Business report accolade. They will go onto represent Sligo at the National finals in May. 
 
Also congratulations to 2nd year Business student Tara Howard who won 2nd place in the intermediate category with her business TH designs.

2nd year student council nominations

World Book Day

Congratulations to Laura Hegarty and Lauren Oogan, who were the winners of our World Book Day competition. Well done also to Saoirse Ivers- Brehony, Ríona McCrann and Nandini Tyagi who were awarded prizes as runners-up. World Book Day was celebrated on March 7th, and 1st Year students were tasked with creating either a literary themed bookmark or writing a book review. The judges had a very difficult task of selecting winners among the candidates! Well done to our winners and to all involved, and thank you to our judges Ms McDonagh and Mr Gorham!
Transition Year Wheelchair Basketball

Transition Year students are currently taking part in a Contemporary Issues in Sport module as part of their Senior Cycle Physical Education programme. This year the students are getting the opportunity to take part in Wheelchair Basketball to raise awareness around disability in sport. The students really enjoyed week one and are looking forward to week two after the Easter break. Well done to all involved.

Kevin Devanarayana in 3rd year won the Seán Carroll scholarship over the weekend to the Gaeltacht at Feis Shligigh 2024! Well done Kevin! 
2nd Year Girls Basketball Success

Congratulations to the 2nd year girls who took part in a blitz in ATU on Tuesday 5th of March. The girls played four tough games which they did not shy away from. The girls came out on top that day with four wins from four beating, Grange, Easkey, Elphin and Mercy College. The girls were absolutely thrilled with the fantastic result and will look forward to playing in the Regional semi-final which will take place in the coming weeks. Well done to all involved!

 Sligo Sports Partnership are excited to announce a FREE online workshop aimed at empowering girls aged 13 to 21, covering essential topics such as training, nutrition, recovery, and overall well-being, with a focus on considerations related to the menstrual cycle. This workshop will be led by EduFit experts Dr. Kiera Ward, Exercise Physiologist and Sports Scientist, alongside Ruth Kavanagh, MSc. ANutr., Registered Associate Nutritionist.                                                 Date: Friday, March 8th

Time: 6:30pm to 7:30pm
