Dear Parents/Guardians

Please see the message below from the HSE:

We have seen a very significant increase in the usual winter viral infections. This includes an increase in flu, RSV and now Covid-19. This is because we are all mixing together more.

We would like to thank you for supporting the dissemination of these important messages and thank the whole school community for their efforts in following public health advice. As schools and other activities re-open it is timely to remind the school community of the key measures which are in the letter attached.

A reminder that 3rd and 6th years finish on Tuesday 20th December at 3.40pm.
1st/ 2nd / 5th Years finish after their last exam. 
All exams finish on Wednesday 21st December at 11am.

HFSS win All Ireland Senior A Volleyball Title

Today in the National Indoor Arena in Abbotstown, our Senior Volleyball team sealed the All Ireland title against Colaiste Mhuire, Ennis. 
After losing to the Ennis school in the group stage a few weeks ago, the HFSS girls were looking for revenge. However the match did not start as our girls would have wanted. After a slow start, they lost the 1st and 2nd sets and it seemed like the Newbridge girls had no response to the power and accuracy of the Ennis students.
After some soul searching during the change of ends at the beginning of the 3rd set, the HFSS girls began to edge their way into the match winning a couple of points in a row and the confidence levels began to rise. The ascendancy began to shift with Holy Family now getting shots away that Ennis had no response to. HFSS took the 3rd set 25-15 and also breezed through the 4th 25-14.
Both teams started the deciding set nervously with many unforced errors. Some excellent serving from our girls allowed us to pull ahead and there was no looking back with our girls closing out the match 15-11.

It was a great performance from our girls to win this match after going 2-0 down in sets. It really shows what great teamwork and communication can do.

An extra congratulations to Jessica Dowling who won MVP for the final.

Dear Parent/Guardian

There has been a significant increase in viral infections and Group A Strep infections among children and young people this winter. There have also been recent concerns about a rare bacterial infection. This infection is iGAS (an invasive Group A Streptococcal infection). It is and also known as Group A Strep.
