6th year appointments are beginning on Tuesday. Times are posted on the office door. Ms O Sullivan yearhead has also posted the times on the 6th year chatboard. Please bring CAO number and password with you and/or other passwords such as ucas etc.

Congratulations to our Junior Ladies Football teams who competed in the Waterford Junior Football Blitz today in Dungarvan Gaa Club. The black team won the competition out captained by Lia Harty. Great performances by both teams today - well done to all involved!

Congratulations to Rebecca O Shea TY on becoming a mental health ambassador. Each year St Patrick's Mental Health services run a Transition Year (TY) Programme which is a one-week mental health awareness placement, conducted by clinical staff from St Patrick’s Mental Health Services. Every year, 100 students from across Ireland take part in the TY Programme, with 20 students participating in a week-long placement at a time. Rebecca completed her placement before Christmas. Students engage in approximately five sessions each day, focusing on various aspects of mental health. They also get to take part in a mock multidisciplinary team (MDT) meeting. Each May, a graduation of students who have completed the programme takes place, hearing from special guest speakers and graduation certificates are issued to each of the students, who leave the programme empowered to act as mental health ambassadors in both their schools and local communities. Rebecca's graduation is Thursday the 5th of May. Well done.

CAO late application deadline is May 1st. If any 6th year has has decided to apply please contact Ms Moore Before this Friday April 29th. Appointments for all 6th years will be issued next week so all applications can be reviewed in May when CAO Change mind opens. The deadline for change of mind is July 1st.

ASTI 100th Annual Convention 2022

The 100th ASTI Convention began today in the Clayton Hotel in Cork. St Augustine's College is well represented at this Convention. The Dungarvan Branch Delegates are Anna Marie O Dwyer (Delegate), Liam O Mahony (Honorary Life Member), Pat Knightly (Standing Committee), Margo McGann (Delegate), Pádraig MacCraith (Delegate), Anne Bennett (West Waterford Branch Delegate), Patrick Collins (Emeritus) and Michael McGrath (Honorary National Organiser). Looking forward to good debate on motions over the 3 days. Today Minister Norma Foley addressed Convention.

Liam and Oisín Leacy recently enjoyed a week of work experience at the Curragh Camp as part of their Transition Year. The Defence Forces conducts work experience for transition year students normally twice a year; once in spring and once in autumn. Due to operational and training commitments, transition year work experience is only conducted during these periods. Transition year work experience is co-ordinated through Manpower Offices at Brigade Headquarters for the Army, and through Manpower Offices at The Air Corps and Naval Service Headquarters.

Please note that the use of ICT (Phones/tablets etc) will no longer be permitted in evening study. This is to continue bringing the school back in line to pre-covid operating. Devices should therefore be turned off before study commences and not just put on silent as this still causes a distraction to the student and others around them.
