Orfeo Ed Euridice

Some 1st year students along with Helen and Ms McGann travelled to the stunning venue of Lismore Castle for a night at the opera. Orfeo ed Euridice is an opera composed by Christoph Willibald Gluck. Orfeo vows to rescue Euridice from the underworld. Amor, god of love, appears with word that Jove, pitying Orfeo, will allow him to descend into the land of the dead to retrieve Euridice. To make this trial more difficult, Orfeo must neither look at Euridice, nor explain why looking is forbidden. It was wonderful. For most of our students this was their first encounter with live opera. It was an unforgettable evening that transported them into a different world. The powerful delivery of passionate arias has no doubt left a lasting impression on our students. We are honoured to be invited to this very prestigious event.
