Best wishes to Jack Kiely TY2 as he is participating in UNICEF Activism Training this week. The purpose of the course is to empower students with the skills, knowledge, and strategies to be a powerful change-maker in the community. UNICEF offers young people the opportunity to participate in local activism through our week-long activism training programme. This is ideal for a Transition Year Work Experience Week. Best of luck Jack.

I wish to inform you that WIT physics staff have recently launched a physics video competition for TY and 5th year students, see www.wit.ie/filmphys.
I have attached a poster with details of the competition.
The aim of this competition is to stimulate students to develop creative demonstrations of physics principles using the medium of video. We're looking forward to viewing entries that display a sense of fun yet also convey the basic science. The winning entry will earn its creator(s) €250 with prizes also awarded to the runner-up and the video deemed to be the most creative.
Students have until 18th April to produce and submit their video. They can work individually or as part of a socially-distanced team to create a short (less than 3-minute) video. The video should either explain and demonstrate an aspect of physics in an everyday context or explain a more advanced physics concept using everyday items. Students can contact Gabriel Gallagher at ggallagher@wit.ie with any queries re the competition.
