Zoom Talk: Helping Children make the transition from Primary to Post-primary - a talk for parents with Stella O'Malley Hosted by Kildare County Childcare Committee (www.kccc.ie) Date: Thu, 17 June 2021 Time: 19:00 – 20:00 , Via Zoom BOOK HERE: www.eventbrite.ie/e/helping-children-make-the-transition-from-primary-to-post-primary-tickets-157612754993 This talk will be of particular relevance to parents whose children are moving from primary to secondary school this year, to parents of children who have just finished 1st year in secondary school, and also to professionals who work with this age group. Stella will look at how children have been affected by the last year of lockdowns and school closures, and how parents can help them to adapt to secondary school, coming as it does in this difficult period of adolescence. With most interactions online some children will be struggling with social interactions and may be anxious about the coming transition to secondary school.

The school calendar for the next academic year will be available via the school app calendar in mid-August and a hardcopy of this calendar will be distributed to students when they return to school. Our Meitheal Leaders received their certificates and enjoyed Dominos pizza for lunch to celebrate their wonderful work and positive attitude in mentoring the 1st Years during very challenging times this year. Thank you to the Meitheal Leaders for offering invaluable support to our 1st Year students, helping them settle into secondary school and organising fun events for them to enjoy with their peers. The Meitheal Team contributed positively to school life during a very difficult year for all. Gentlemen, you are a credit to yourselves, Naas CBS and the Meitheal Programme. It was fantastic to see so many of our TY students in for one last time today for their Graduation. Thanks to all who helped out, especially to Ms. O'Donovan and our very talented musicians: Paul Colclough Jamie Humphreys Dylan Judge Thanks to Sam Fahey for his few words on how the year went. Thanks also to Mr. Travers, the management team, the form teachers and our caretaker Anthony for their support. And finally thanks to our resident photographer Fionn Monaghan for the photos attached. Second Year Team Building

Last week the Second Year students took some time out with their Form Teachers to discuss what it was like being in their Form Class. The result was some very interesting Word Art Designs which summed up the essence of each Form Group . Well done to Form Class 2B who won a pizza afternoon for their efforts . A special thanks to the Form teachers ( 2A : Ms Kearns , 2B : Ms Phibbs , 2C : Ms Hartnett , 2D : Ms Cassidy , 2E : Mr Cribben and 2F Ms Fleming and Mr Tyrrell ) who supported the students not only in this initiative , but in every aspect of school life this year . Well done to all of our TY students who completed their final portfolio assessment over the last few days. The work, effort and ingenuity shown was amazing. Thank you to all who went above and beyond in what was such a broken year. To conclude our year and give recognition to the great work done, we have our graduation ceremony taking place tomorrow (27th). This is for students only and begins at 11.30a.m. Uniform is expected to be worn. It will last approximately 30-40 minutes. Each form group is designated a classroom: 4A - 2/20 4B - 2/12 4C - 2/14 4D - 2/18 4E - 2/22 4F - 2/23 Please go to these rooms when you arrive in school. The grad will be streamed from the assembly and your form teacher will be present to distribute certificates. The stream link will be sent on the app shortly beforehand for anyone who can't make it.
