Well Done to our TY class for Graduating from TU Dublin today

TY student Sarajane Jourdan-Dorster, our french exchange student, joined the Mount Carmel Community for the year. She returned home today, but not before Ms Barry organised a going away picnic for her and the TY class to bid farewell. 

 TY Mini-company sales event took place in our school hall last week, students across the years got the opportunity to purchase some fantastic crafts, baked goods and gifts

Massive thank you to the Teen-Turn alumni who visited our JCSP library today to discuss @teenturn and its diverse range of programs. 

Approximately 40 students attended a the presentation by past pupil of Mount Carmel, Fathia, past pupil of Larkin Community College, Diana and Teen-Turn Programme co-ordinator, Sarah.

They explained to our students about Teen-Turn’s 2-week Summer Work Placement which is a brilliant opportunity and open to 3rd years and up - 4 of our students took part in this last year and loved it.

6th year students were offered the opportunity to attend Teen-Turn’s free online grinds in STEM subjects on Mondays and Tuesdays after school over the next few weeks.

Last week our TY students enjoyed a Dentistry Workshop at Trinity College. They listened to some doctors and dentists talk about their jobs at the university hospital. The students said it was really insightful and interesting. During the talks, they learnt a lot about all the different fields of dentistry. They also got a lovely tour of the place and got to see where the students train and the patient check-up rooms. The entire hospital had plenty of artwork all around the place and was beautifully structured. The dentist there passed some teeth moulds to the students, for them to look at and feel.
