There will be a CAO Presentation for Parents of 6th Year students in the school on Wednesday, November 15th at 6pm. This presentation will cover the CAO application process as well as give information regarding supplementary applications like DARE and HEAR, grants and scholarships.

Our Senior B Basketball team played The Ursuline Thurles today. The girls won 52-28, with everyone getting a game in a great team effort. Jennifer O Neill & Rebecca Keane were stand out players. Our Senior A team played an away game against Presentation Thurles today and won 52-38.

Today the 5th year students had a visit in from the St. Vincent de Paul. Local representatives Billy and Teresa spoke to the class about the voluntary work that they carry out in the Portlaoise area. It was a well received talk and students are now all very keen to get involved in the organisation. Many thanks to Ms. Casey for organising this talk.

Glory Anamudu (5th Year) has won the first round of the Rotary Youth Leadership Development Competition. She will now progress on to the Laois finals which will take place after the midterm break.

Five Scoil Chríost Rí students have qualified for the Poetry Aloud semi-finals in the National Library in Dublin on 16/17 December. They are; Anna Lee Dowling TY,Grace Epkemandu TY, Emilja Stankeviciute TY, Alina Obreja 2nd Year and Aaliyah Onelami 5th Year. This is a great achievement for the girls that not only displays their knowledge of poetry but also their understanding and ability to interpret it. Well done girls!

Our Transition Year debaters, Anna-Lee Dowling and Seona McKittrick had a tremendous win in the Denny's Debate at Trinity College Dublin yesterday evening. With the motion "This house would make all voters pass a political knowledge test before being allowed to vote", the girls overcame the opposition from Dublin schools Belvedere College, Holy Child Killiney and the Institute of Education. They have how qualified for the quarter finals of the competition. Very well done!

The senior B basketball team had a fantastic win over Colaiste Iosgain today. with a final score of 30-26. The girls played brilliantly and showed great team spirit. Rebecca Keane & Aine Seale had standout performances in really tough defence which Colaiste Iosagáin had great difficulty breaking down..
