House Dance Off

The whole school gathered in the Sports Hall today for the hotly contested House Dance Off, an epic display of energy, rhythm and (mostly!) synchronicity! Well done to all the performing groups - the practice paid off! The 1st-5th Year category was won by the polished P4s while L6 took the 6th Year contest in style!

Congratulations to the students who represented Our Lady's School at the Wesley College MUN conference on the 28th and 29th of February. All the girls did a great job and were wonderful ambassadors for the school and their country, Vietnam.
TY: What's on Next Week

Well done to all the girls on completing a busy week. We had an exciting visit from the Irish Guide Dogs on Monday. On Tuesday our students participated in the SOAR, positive mental health workshop, and are now aware of the importance of looking after both their own mental health as well as being aware of those around them. The girls also attended subject talks to help inform their decisions for the next two years. On Wednesday, 6 of our TYs became qualified fundamental hockey coaches, they will be working with our first year teams in order to enhance their coaching skills. On Thursday a selection of students completed the 13 weeks requirement for their 'Sign Language' and 'Tech 4 You' skills. More subjects talks were run during the morning. Well done to C4s on completing their first aid course today, our B4s on completing their movie making workshop and our P4s and L4s on completing their retreat.  Please see below some notices for the week ahead. Your daughter has two forms to fill out on the google classroom with the contact details of her next two work placements. Please ensure she has filled these out by Friday.  2nd March - Monday: 6 of our students will be going to the Helix to show their creations at the Junk Kouture competition.If your daughter is attending please be aware she will not be permitted to attend if a permission slips is not submitted on the app.   3rd March - Tuesday: There will be a talk ran by the Civic Theatre. They will outline how their company works and how the students may get involved if they wish. After school there will be a second round of Gaisce presentations for those unable to attend the first round. It will be finished at approx 16:30. 4th March - Wednesday: Student LIFT Facilitators meeting at break time. Student information talk for Poland trip at lunch. 6th March - Friday: Subject choice deadline and expression of interest for Leaving Certificate Applied course.

Congratulations to Holly Cassidy, Maura O' Riordan, Rachel Li, Isabelle Murphy and Hannah Murphy from 3rd Year who competed in the junior SEAI Regional Final with their project on sustainable fashion called ‘Forever fits’. Another well-deserved congratulation to RóisínO’Neill, Ava Power and Anna Yarr from Transition Year who presented Our Lady’s in the senior SEAI Regional Final. Their project, ‘The Last Straw’ aims to create awareness on ways to reduce plastic. Both groups have been working tirelessly to reduce our carbon footprint through their one good idea.Well done girls.

Preparations for Lent are underway in OLS. Tuesday in TY Maths, Transition Year students were finding PI, the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter, with pancakes! Yesterday, year groups gathered in the GPA to mark the beginning of Lent whereby the Le Chéile council distributed ashes.
