Well done to our 6th year students who have completed almost all of their mocks today. Hopefully the experience has been positive in getting the students used to the flow of exams, timings, areas to be further studied etc.
A reminder that students only attend for exams again tomorrow so if you do not have a timetabled exam you will not be in school tomorrow.
Have a enjoyable mid term and recharge the batteries after the effort of the past two weeks.
A gentle reminder to parents/guardians that mock exam and correction fees are overdue, please arrange payment to ensure timely correction. Many thanks to those who have already paid.
Kind regards

Green School Committee's Water Facts - Only 1% of our fresh water is accessible to us...

Freshwater makes up a very small fraction of all water on the planet.
While nearly 70 percent of the world is covered by water, only 2.5 percent of it is fresh. The rest is saline and ocean-based.
Even then, just 1 percent of our freshwater is easily accessible, with much of it trapped in glaciers and snowfields.
In essence, only 0.007 percent of the planet's water is available to fuel and feed its 6.8 billion people.

Tess Lambe former student of CPC, Professor in Oxford is a role model and exemplar in celebrating International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
On the 11th of January 2020, the genetic sequence encoding the SARS-CoV-2 virus was released by researchers in China. Later that day, Associate Professor Lambe began designing the vaccine currently being used in large scale vaccination schemes.
Once designed, Professor Lambe then spearheaded the preclinical studies needed to progress the vaccine into the clinic. This work, was critical in gaining the approvals needed to start clinical testing on the 23rd of April 2020. In just 104 days, Associate Professor Lambe and her team had gone from a genetic code to a vaccine that had been administered in clinic, an unprecedented achievement.
In the months following the design and initial production of the vaccine, Professor Lambe has planned and delivered the studies needed to examine if the vaccine induces antibody responses. This work was critical to facilitate trial progression and importantly demonstrates the ‘Oxford’ vaccine induces the right kind of immune response in humans.
Teresa Lambe is originally from Kilcullen and attended CPC secondary school, where she loved Art, Biology and Maths classes.

The SID committee delivered an informative talk to encourage students to think about how they use the internet and what information they share online. The Committee also organised a walking debate which gave students the opportunity to reflect on statements and share their views with others. Well done to all students involved and especially our TY leadership students who put in very worthwhile planning and preparation for the campaign.
