Darkness Into Light 2019

All students, staff and parents are welcome to walk/jog/run from Darkness into Light on Saturday 11th of May at 4.15am. The walk starts from Knocknarea Arena in Sligo IT at 4.15am on 11th May. Students can register in the GP area on Tuesday and Wednesday at break and lunch times. Registration costs €5 for students and €25 for adults.

Summerhill welcomes teachers from Italy and Spain for Erasmus Project

Summerhill College is the coordinating school for an exciting project involving schools from Ireland, Italy and Spain. The project will look at ways of exploring our cultural traditions using new and emerging technologies as we as sharing best practices. The other two schools that are involved are CASA SALESIANA SAGRADO CORAZÓN DE JESÚS LA ALMUNIA, a large secondary institution near Zaragoza in Spain and IC PARISE based in the town of Arzignano near the city of Vicenza in northern Italy. The project will utilise Drone technology, Spanish language podcasts and the online training platform Raise Your IQ with each school supervising a separate strand. There have been school visits to Spain and Italy that have developed and planned the projects and the visit of staff last week to Summerhill was organised in order to finalise these arrangements. In addition, there will be student exchanges which will take place in the academic year 2019/20. Microsoft Office Specialist Champion 2019

Congratulations to TY student Mateusz Weclawowicz who won the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) national final yesterday in Dublin. Mateusz won the Microsoft Office Word category with a remarkable time and score of 1,000 points in 12 minutes. He now progresses to the MOS Four Nations Championships in the UK in June where he will represent Ireland. Also a massive well done to our other TY student Pawel Gorski who came a very close second with an unbelievable score of 984. Many thanks to their mentor Mr. Whelan for all his hard work and preperation with the boys.

Surf Club is confirmed on tomorrow Wednesday May 15th. Meet at surf school at 9.30am. It is fine to go straight there instead of school in the morning. It should be finished by 12.30pm. Return for afternoon lessons. Any issues see Mr Tuohy.
