A group of fifth year Business and Economics students took part in a Bond Trader Event run by Bank of Ireland in UCD. The day was a great success giving students the opportunity to trade on the stock market.

Keep Cup Action Day

The Environment Committee held a Keep-Cup action day today during lunch. Any student who brought in two old used coffee cups got to exchange these for a Keep-Cup. The girls bought the Keep-Cups out of a grant that they received from An Taisce as part of their Young Reporters for the Environment anti litter campaign.

We were delighted to welcome parent and Provost of Trinity College Patrick Prendergast as guest speaker on Wednesday 29th March for an evening of presentations on “Learning and Teaching- Achieving your academic potential’. G Killion (DP), presented on new initiatives on Learning and Teaching in Sion Hill and the learning habits and skills we are endeavouring to inculcate. Dr O Condren (teacher) presented on the unique programme she has developed and trialled that will help each individual student achieve her academic potential. Patrick Prendergast delivered a very inspiring speech about the qualities and skills that students need to flourish at third level. It was reassuring to note that many of the qualities he mentioned echoed the vision we have for developing students at Sion Hill

The Future is bright for the First Year A hockey Team

The 1st Yr A team had the perfect season - unbeaten in all games. They played Dundalk Grammar in the semi-final winning 4-1 to set up a showdown with Loreto Dalkey in the final. Following a tense 1st half with chances falling to both teams, the girls come out all guns blazing and were rewarded with a great team goal inside the first two minutes. They controlled the remainder of the half, cementing their win with a great strike from Gile Martin from the top of the circle.
Sion Hill have never before won a 1st Yr Leinster title. The future is bright!
Keep Cup Campaign

The Environment Committee are launching a campaign to get people using more travel reusable cups rather than takeaway cups. On the 24th of April if a student brings in two takeaway cups they will be given a travel mug for free!
Victory for the Minor A hockey team

The Minor A hockey team won the Dublin South Central B League beating St Kilians 3-1 in a fantastically contested match on Monday. The girls were 1-0 down at half time but came out all guns blazing in the second half to secure the trophy!
