This week one our our 5th yr religion classes were visited by Concern representative Joanne Arnold. This was to acknowledge their fundraising efforts of €1585.85 which allowed them to buy a range of facilities the charity offer including the building of a classroom, a community well, workshops for young girls on life skills, birthing kits and a range of farm animals among other items. Well done to all involved.
Scoil Chriost Ri Gardening Club off to a flying start

Scoil Chriost Ri's Gardening club started on the 2nd of March and has attracted many of our 1st and 2nd year students who are excited to start growing their own vegetables in a move towards reducing our food miles and encouraging sustainability. The club aim to take part in Cully and Sullys' "Give peas a Chance Campaign" which aims to foster a spirit of food entrepreneurship in Irish Secondary Schools. The club is run by the TY " 1 Good Idea " team consisting of Alicia Kerslake, Monta Riba, Mercy Agha, Lauren Adams and Robyn O'Leary. The " 1 Good Idea " competition is run by the Sustainable Development Authority of Ireland and aims to give students the opportunity to plan and implement a campaign within their community that inspires lifestyle changes, saves energy and tackles climate change.
Success for Scoil Chriost Ri's Minor Cross-country team

Huge congratulations to our minor athletics team consisting of Ava O' Connor, Ava Prendergast, Kate Corcoran, Grainne Cotter and Ava Punch who managed to win the bronze team medal in the All Ireland Schools Cross Country Event in Mallsuk, Belfast on Saturday the 11/03/17. The team is pictured below alongside the gold and silver winning teams.
Friends of Nano

On the 9th of March our Friends of Nano group travelled to the Nano Nagle Centre in Ballygriffin, Co. Cork for a day of reflection on the life and work of the founder of the Presentation Sisters. They enjoyed seeing her birthplace and learning about her heritage and her mission to care for the underprivileged, as well as reflecting on how we can all continue to uphold her legacy today. It was a most rewarding retreat for all involved.
World Book Day

Students from both the Literacy and Library committees joined forces to celebrate World Book Day by dressing up as characters from their favourite books, while other students guessed who they might be based on their costume and accompanying quote. All the ladies made a huge effort, but three characters were awarded prizes: Daisy Buchannan (The Great Gatsby); Atticus Finch (To Kill a Mockingbird) and The Ice Princess (The Dork Diaries). Well done to everyone involved.
Junk Kouture Final 2017

Junk Kouture Supporters travelling to the final in Limerick to be at school at 4pm in full uniform tomorrow, Friday 10th March. Bus is leaving the grounds at 4.15pm sharp. If you do not have your permission slip handed in you must bring one with you to give to the teacher travelling on the bus. Return time approx 12am and must have collection by parent organised in advance. Best of luck girls!!

Well done to all the 2nd year and TY students who took part in the 2017 Scifest at School Competition that took place on the 8th of March. The judges were very impressed with the standard of the projects and the work, time and commitment that was evident from all the projects displayed. The winners who will progress to compete at Thurles IT on the 3rd of May were as follows : TY 1st Prize- Roisin Doheny and Ella Kearney TY 2nd Prize- Ellen Connolly and Zoe Keegan 2nd Year 1st Prize - Eve Costello and Katie Kerins 2nd Year 2nd Prize- Isabella Logan Best display- Asma Sulfigar Best communicators - Molly Mc Cabe and Ada Scully

Congratulations to our Super Scoil Chriost Ri Minor Athletics Team consisting of Ava O' Connor, Grainne Cotter,Kate Corcoran, Ava Prendergast and Ava Punch who won 2nd team at the Leinster Cross Country Event in Santry on the 15th of February. Ava O' Connor won individual gold in the race and all the girls ran a great race to secure the team silver. The team now progress to the All Ireland School Cross Country Championship which is being held in Newtownabbey, Co. Antrim on the 11th of March. We wish the girls the best of luck!
