Last Thursday and Friday Transition Year students had the pleasure of welcoming Garda Grainne O'Shea from the Waterford Roads Policing Unit to deliver the new Garda Lifesaver Project in conjunction with their Road Safety Module in TY.
It is a new 2 hour road safety education presentation that was hard-hitting and realistic and highlighted the devastating effects that road traffic collisions have on people's lives.
Garda O'Shea engaged our students in the talk using role play, video inserts and personal experiences of road traffic collision victims and/or their families.
The program delivered a strong road safety message and addressed the current rising number of deaths and serious injuries that are occurring from collisions on our roads.

'Our first-year boys were defeated by The Intermediate School Kilorglin of Kerry in the quarter final of the 1st Year Munster Cup. After a great year in which we topped our group and beat St. Ailbe's of Tipp town in the last 16, our season came to an end against a strong Kilorglin team. The lads played well and on another day, the result could have been different. Nonetheless, we had a great year. Huge thanks to Brideview United for the use of their pitch and for the refreshments they provided for both teams after the match

We got to take the scenic route to avoid the protests and made a stop in the city of Beauvais before heading to the airport. We visited the cathedral, with the highest choir in the world and its stunning astronomical clock. After a minor panick with our luggage, we were set to fly and landed on time to watch Ireland beat France at the rugby...

Our students said goodbye to their French families in Rennes before taking the train to Paris.

We visited Montmartre, its view and its impressive church.

We then saw the Eiffel Tower, before taking a boat along the river. We stopped to see the Louvre and Mona Lisa.

Students were then let free to walk along the Champs élysées and watched the daily military parade by the Arc de Triomphe.

Well deserved dinner at a local brasserie, before going up the Eiffel Tower by night!

Back to the hotel for our last night in France. Very busy but enjoyable day!

Despite the strikes and protests, we hope to fly back today Friday
