Good evening, As part of the ongoing COVID 19 school measures, we continue to keep our classrooms ventilated with windows open. We are also very mindful that it is getting colder. Students are therefore permitted to wear any combination of the school uniform items to keep themselves warm. This can be PE or regular uniform items, worn separately or together on any school day (not just PE class days). However, with respect to our uniform and our school, students are not permitted to wear non-uniform items. The link for the uniform policy is attached below (also on www.holyfamily.ie) Thank you for your ongoing support in such school matters.

Anti-Bullying Staff Training

Archived : 25 Jan 2022, 12:00 AM
Dear parents/guardians There will be no school for students on Monday, 6th December as school staff will participate in anti-bullying training on that day. Our school is currently involved with two anti-bullying focused initiatives, the 'FUSE' programme (with Dublin City University) and the 'Helping Hands Anti Bullying Programme' (with a specific focus on 'hidden bullying') At HFSS, we know that the key to addressing bullying, within the school environment, is the fostering of an ethos under which bullying is unacceptable. Our school wide anti-bullying ethos is enhanced and supported by: The ongoing evaluation of the HFSS Anti-Bullying Policy and robust protocols for intervention. A respectful and safe school environment that encourages the disclosure of bullying behaviour and ensures that there is a zero-tolerance culture for bullying behaviour. Anti-bullying awareness raising measures and restorative practice approach amongst teachers, students and parents. Ongoing evaluation of the overall effectiveness of the anti-bullying work at HFSS. Dublin City University Anti-Bullying Centre FUSE team will be hosting a FREE parents webinar for all FUSE participating schools, such as HFSS. This will take place on Tuesday, December 14th from 7 pm to 8 pm. Festival of Flavours

Our third bite of the Festival of Flavours took place today. This food festival celebrates the rich and diverse culture within our school. We have 15 different first-generation countries within the school, and in total, 18 stands were displayed. The quality and diversity of food available was absolutely wonderful to see! Our students brought in traditional food from their home countries, such as Jollof Rice (spicy Nigerian rice), Pierogi (Polish dumplings), Roccos (Spanish biscuits), and Ube Cake (purple yam cake from the Philippines), Tiramisu from Italy, Samosas from India, and of course the traditional Irish Soda Bread. Students were asked down in class groups and paid an entry fee of €2 to sample an array of world cuisine. €1010.50 was raised for Teach Tearmainn - a charity which supports women who have been affected by domestic violence and abuse.
