Holy Family welcomed Presentation Wexford to Newbridge today in the Quarterfinals of the Minor Football Cup. After a cagey start HFSS began to take control and created multiple chances only to be denied by the Pres Wexford goalkeeper. Half time 0-0.
The second half started as the first ended with HFSS creating all the chances but couldn’t find the final touch to find the net. Finally with 10 minutes remaining, after the Pres Wexford goalkeeper made a save, Ella Donellan was first to the rebound and got enough power on the ball to get it across the line. With Pres Wexford in search of an equaliser HFSS held strong and saw the game out.
Semi Final to be scheduled for after the Christmas break.
Christmas All Wrapped Up

Christmas is a time for giving. This often extends beyond friends and family to charity donations. There are many reasons to why we give to others. Perhaps this is because at this time, we remember Jesus and how he helped those around him regardless of who they were. It could also be about celebrating what and who you have. In HFSS, we have always been passionate about helping our community and those around us, based on our school mission statement and the vision of our founder Pierre Bienvenu Noailles.
As part of a Transition Year project, Christmas gifts were sent to three local nursing homes: The Holy Family Convent, Willowbrook, and Curragh Lawns. Each student in TY was assigned a resident to buy a Christmas gift for. They were wrapped and delivered to each nursing home during the week.
Following with our tradition to help our community, our chosen charity this year has been Teach Tearmainn – a charity which supports women who have been affected by domestic violence and abuse. We raised €1010 on 22nd November as part of the Festival of Flavours, a food festival celebrates the rich and diverse culture within our school. As part of a Holy Family Youth project, we gathered gifts for children who have been placed in the women’s refuge with their mothers. This evolved into a whole school project, with students from each year group generously donating toys and games for this worthy cause.
