Dear Parents/Guardians As our country begins to reopen we have welcomed an improvement in the weather. During the pandemic we allowed certain latitudes regarding our school uniform. However, as of Monday March 28th 2022, we are reverting to full implementation of our uniform policy and the expectation that all students will comply fully to wearing the uniform which we are proud of. This policy, signed by all students, can be found on pages 29 and 30 of the school journal and our Uniform Policy, attached below, can also be found on our website: www.holyfamily.ie/policy-2/ These are wonderfully positive developments as they mean that we are returning to normal. This gives us the opportunity to identify more as a shared community and embody the spirit of Holy Family Secondary School. UNIFORM Full uniform is expected: Skirt (must be at mid-calf length) or trousers, jumper with the school crest, a white blouse/shirt and plain black tights or socks is the uniform for all students in HFSS. Plain black leather or leather effect shoes are acceptable. There should be no colours and brands, like converse, are not acceptable. Students are not permitted to wear their outdoor wear coats/fleeces or hoodies during classes. HAIR, COSMETICS AND JEWELLERY Junior pupils are not permitted to wear make-up. Senior students are not permitted to wear excessive make-up Excessively long and inappropriate gel, shellac and acrylic false nails are not permitted. Only discreet natural hair colours are permitted, in all forms. One earring stud may be worn per ear. All other piercings are strictly forbidden (including nose rings). Surplus jewellery will be confiscated and kept by the school until the end of the school year. PE UNIFORM Tracksuit bottoms with HFSS hoodie or half zip Converse boot runners and similar style footwear are not permitted. Appropriate footwear is important for sports related activities. PE uniform may be worn for PE class only. Only when PE class takes place during the final period of the day may students keep their PE uniform on. These requirements are not new. They are already in our code of behaviour and are based on the principles of equality. No student should feel under pressure to have labels. Thank you for your support.

The HFSS was looking a bit green today as we celebrated St Patrick's Day. This week we celebrated Seachtain na Gaeilge, the theme this year was Mná Láidre na hÉireann (Strong Irish Women). Students in different years took part in an array of Irish themed activities including a Poster Competition (Comórtas Póstaer), a treasure hunt (Tóraíocht Taisce), a quiz (Tráth na gCeist) and the obligatory Céilí. Tá súil againn go mbeidh deireadh seachtaine deas agaibh ar fad. Lá Fhéile Pádraig shona daoibh go léir.

The F1 in Schools Team "Supernova Racing" fronted by three of our TY students; Grace, Clodagh and Rebecca, held their Bake Sale Friday last to raise funds for the All-Ireland finals. A huge thanks to everyone who supported the team by purchasing treats. A special mention to the other TYs who baked and helped out on the day. The team raised almost €600, which will go a long way in the competition. Also, to the parents that reached out to the school to get involved in sponsorship, we will be in touch with you this week, and if any parents would still like to get involved through providing sponsorship, it's not too late please contact Ms. Whelan via email at reception@holyfamily.ie
