We would like to remind you of the following calendar dates:

Thursday 12th December - Classes finish at 3:25pm to facilitate the 1st year Parent/Teacher meeting
Friday 13th December - Classes finish at 2:40pm to facilitate a Staff Meeting (no evening study)
Friday 20th December - School finishes at 1pm for the Christmas Holidays (no evening study)

School reopens on Monday 6th January 2025

Please join us this evening, Tuesday 10th December at 7pm, for our annual Christmas Concert in school. Our music students have been busy preparing a variety of festive songs to celebrate the Christmas Season and may even convince you to join in with a song or two.

The 5th and 6th year German students are enjoying their last evening in Berlin . They made the most of their 4 days in this great city , jam packed days with language lessons , history , cultural visits , Christmas markets , food and they are also now experts at navigating the complex public transport system too “ auf Deutsch “  of course ! Well done girls.

HO HO HO..... only 6 more days to get your raffle cards back for the annual HFSS Parents Association Christmas Raffle . This year you can pay on line but just remember to send back the filled in card. There are great prizes this year with some wonderful Seller's prizes for returned FULL cards. Please return your cards by Tuesday 10th December. . All card to be return to Ms Kissane outside her office every morning. All the money raised will go back to the school for the benefit of all students. Many thanks in advance for your support.

Today we continue our attendance initiative the "12 Full Days of Christmas", over these 12 days every student who is present for the full day AND on time for class will be entered into a draw to win some lovely prizes.

As you are aware, good school attendance is important to your daughter's achievement, wellbeing and wider development. Students who attend school regularly significantly contribute to their long-term educational attainment and are more likely to develop positive relationships with peers and teachers, enhancing their overall emotional resilience and mental health.

Please find attached some tips to help improve your child's school attendance:

• Establish a good routine in the mornings and evenings so your child is prepared for the school day ahead.
• Make sure your child goes to school regularly and follows the school rules.
• Ensure your child arrives at school on time – not late.
• Arrange dental and medical appointments outside school hours when possible.
• Always inform the school if your child is absent due to illness – this should be followed up with a written note when your child returns to school.
• Take truancy seriously – if your child is not attending school as you expect they may be putting themselves at risk – Who are they with? What are they doing?
• Take family holidays outside term time.
• Talk to your child about school and take an interest in their school work (including homework).
• Attend parent evenings and school events.
• Praise and reward your child’s achievements at school.
• Discuss any problems or difficulties with the school – we are here to help.
