Reminder - Candidate Self Service Portal Open .

Dear Students and Parents ,
Please read the message below from The State Examinations Commission in relation to the online candidate portal which remains open until 5pm on Tuesday 21st of February 2023.
Dear Principal,
In 2021, the State Examinations Commission (SEC) as part of its digital strategy, introduced a facility to allow Leaving Certificate candidates to confirm their subject and level entry details online (including adding or withdrawing from subjects), replacing the previous system of using individual Leaving Certificate candidate (E7) entry forms. The use of the online system, the Candidate Self Service Portal (CSSP) will continue for the 2023 Leaving Certificate.
The portal opened at 1pm yesterday Wednesday 8 February for candidates to confirm their subject entries and levels. It will remain open for this purpose until 5pm Tuesday 21 February.
Can you please advise all candidates in your school that it is essential that they register through the Portal as this Portal will provide candidates with the opportunity to confirm that their personal details are correct (i.e. Name and Date of Birth), their subject choice and levels, registration will also allow future access to their results and for the later stages of the process such as the appeals application process .

Reflection Initiative
Created : 04 Feb 2022, 1:23 PM
Archived : 07 Feb 2025, 12:00 AM
Dear Parents,
We hope that you are well and extend every good wish for the new year to you and your household. Hopefully we are emerging to a brighter future in 2022.
This is a short note to inform you of an upcoming initiative in Naas CBS to support and progress your son’s learning by reflection. This is part of our School Self Evaluation process which currently is focussing on improving Independent Learning. We hope you will take this opportunity to engage with your son and his learning. We encourage you to work with him to help him become reflective on his work and take more responsibility for his progress in school.
In the near future the attached presentation will be shared with all classes to outline what reflection is and why it should be incorporated into their routine of homework and study. The attached reflection templates will be made available to parents and students on the school website and school app. We encourage you and your son to regularly use the templates to practise reflection on their learning on the return of a test or the end of a chapter. It will not be possible to do this for all tests/chapters and all subjects but we hope that it might be completed a couple of times in a variety of subjects each term.
Reasons to try it:-
: Self-assessment and self-reflection involves students reviewing their work and reflecting on their learning progress. This helps students participate in and take ownership of their own learning.
: Self-reflection heightens an awareness of one’s most effective learning strategies, as well as pointing out areas where an individual student might devote more time and attention.
: Reflecting helps you to develop your skills and review their effectiveness, rather than just carry on doing things as you have always done them. It is about questioning, in a positive way, what you do and why you do it and then deciding whether there is a better, or more efficient, way of doing it in the
future.
How to try it:-
: Access and complete the templates that are available on the school website and school app with your son.
: Use the prompt questions on the ‘Reflection’ page in the school journal to prompt and guide a conversation with your son about school work.
: Read comments and feedback from teachers on school work or tests with your son and make sure he implements any advice or feedback provided.
We hope that as many parents and students as possible engage with this initiative through out the remainder of the school year. We would also appreciate any feedback of your experience by email to sse@naascbs.ie

TY Subject Choice Café
Created : 28 Feb 2024, 10:09 AM
Archived : 06 Feb 2025, 12:00 AM
All TY students attended two subject choice workshops this week. Students had time to engage with 5th and 6th year student representatives from all of the Leaving Certificate option subjects.
TY students were able to learn about subject course content, exam structure, see examples of student work and ask questions. They also completed a subject choice booklet as they progressed through the workshops which should be a helpful resource when it comes to ranking their final subject choice preferences. We encourage parents/guardians to have conversations at home regarding subject choice over the coming days.
The deadline for submitting subject option preferences for TY students is Friday, March 8th. We would like to extend our gratitude to the 5th and 6th year students who volunteered their time to assist with this initiative.

Students got the opportunity the listen to some very informative sessions from BOI accountants and participated in a game where they had to present their ideas to BOI executives.
Students were very engaged in the day and represented the school excellently. Well done to all involved.
