Reminder - Closing Date for 'Healthy Hearts' Thurs 21st
Created : 18 Oct 2021, 9:16 AM

Dear Parents/Guardians, On Monday November 29th and Tuesday November 30th, Naas C.B.S. are planning to oversee a heart screening clinic within the school for Transition Year and Senior Cycle students. The ‘Healthy Hearts Healthy Lives’ foundation will be conducting the cardiac screening clinic in the school throughout the days mentioned above. ‘Healthy Hearts Healthy Lives’ was founded in 2011 and facilitates locally arranged cardiac screening clinics for those aged 14+ at various centres in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Their aim is to raise awareness of conditions that can lead to Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS). The screening programme consists of the following: • Electrocardiogram (ECG) and Questionnaire @ initial screening session • An ECG is a simple and useful test which records the rhythm and electrical activity of your heart. • Consultant Cardiologist’s report on ECG. • Echocardiogram, should this be required. This will take place at a later date. • Referral to appropriate medical facility, if required. • Those requiring follow up will receive a phone call, outlining exactly what is involved. • Personal results letter to each individual screened and their GP if required. Undetected heart conditions affect about 1 in 300 people in Ireland. The primary focus is on screening people who wish to engage in sporting activities, however, the service is available to all who wish to undergo screening. All staff used in the administering and interpreting of the screening programme are medically qualified and experienced practitioners. The cost of this cardiac screening is €40 per student. Each participant will be required to fill out a permission slip, questionnaire and consent form prior to the screening. We feel that this is a hugely important and worthwhile exercise that can highlight any underlying health issues that may be affecting an individual. More information on ‘Healthy Hearts Healthy Lives’ can be found at www.healthyheartshealthylives.com/ An 'Expression of Interest' form has been sent to all 4th, 5th & 6th Year students via the app, located under the 'Consent Form' tab on the left-hand panel of the school app. The closing date for this form to be submitted is tomorrow, Thursday 21st October

Dear Parents & Guardians, Just a reminder that the 'Note From Parent' facility on the app can be used to contact a Year Head or the school office but not for 'Absentee', 'Late' or 'Permission to Leave Early' notes. To report Absentee- Please use Absentee Form on side menu of the app. To report Late- Please use Late Note on side menu of the app To report Permission To Leave- Please use Permission to Leave Early on side menu of the app. Where possible please try to submit these notes early in the morning (before 9am) to give the system time to register these notes. It is important to note that if you have information to share with all of your son's teachers e.g. issue with school uniform, incomplete homework, it would be better to write this note into the school journal which travels with your son from class to class and he can show each teacher if required. Many thanks, The Management Team
