Our school hosted the third and final workshop of the 'Architects in Schools' initiative with Ghinlon Architects on Tuesday 5th February. The initiative is for Transition Year students and is run by the Irish Architecture Foundation. Our students were taken through the design process with architect Ghinlon Wang who also taught the students the basics of model making. The design task set for the students was to design and model some proposals for the walls in the main assembly area of the school. Students surveyed the assembly area and created a number of innovative proposals. Many thanks to Mr. Fitzpatrick who facilitated this event for the students.

The school shirt and tie must be visible with the new half zip school jumper for seniors. Students will not be admitted to class unless they are in uniform. Mock exams will begin on Wednesday 13th February for 3rd and 6th Years. It is essential that students are in full uniform for all of their exams.

The key message from this event is that 'It’s OK not to feel OK, and it’s absolutely OK to ask for help'. There is no fee for this Rag day and once again we encourage everyone to to promote Positive Mental Health by wearing something orange.

Wishing all our TY students the best of luck in their upcoming Work Experience. All documents necessary for Work Experience are being distributed this week. It is important that all students get this documentation before they start their Work Experience. (Week 1 from Feb 11th and Week 2 from Feb 25th.) Included are, Parents consent forms, (which should be completed before your sons begin), Daily diary sheets, and Employer Packs, (which include a cover letter, an evaluation sheet that is to be completed by the employer, and a copy of the schools insurance policy. In the event that your son doesn't get these by Friday then you should email me for a copy of same at nr@naascbs.ie All of these are needed for his compulsory Work Experience project which will be due for handing in on the week of March 4th. (i) Parents Consent. (ii) Daily Diaries (iii) Background information on the placements. (minimum 2 pages on each, max font size 14, to include also photos), (iv) Employer Evaluation sheets and (v) Work Experience Reflection sheet. On an unrelated note I want to thank all those boys who have returned their sponsorship for the joint Childhood Cancer Foundation and Crumlins Childrens Hospital Christmas fundraising project. It is extremely disappointing, despite numerous reminders, that there are still about 40 boys who have not. We like to increase the boys awareness of Organisations that do such great and necessary work for people who may be less well off, less healthy and less fortunate than themselves. Can you please double check with your son if he has returned his money and card or check in with me by email.
