Virtual Reality for Parents

The future is here. We are having a sample virtual reality day for some classes next week and want parents to come and see for themselves. We hope to explore different ways of learning in the 21st century and take virtual trips to the likes of The Pyramids in Egypt, The Rainforests in Brazil, The Eiffel Tower in France and The Burren in Co. Clare. We are using most of the day for student classes, but we have kept one class free for parents. Details below. Happy Birthday to Mary Maher who turned 100 years old this weekend. Mary attended Mount Carmel primary & secondary school in the 1920's & 1930's. She has wonderful memories of her days in King's Inns! Mary resides in St Mary's in the Phoenix Park and we wish her the happiest of birthdays.

Colette Forde, creator of Teen-Speak, visited Mount Carmel library this week. Colette is a passionate youth advocate,actor and drama facilitator. She has been featured on RTE and performed her play "innit" in the SoHo Playhouse Theatre Off-Broadway in New York. She performed her one woman show for us and delivered a fantastic workshop about mental health to all our Transition Year students.

Today is the first day of Catholic Schools Week where our school community is invited to take part in a week of celebrations. The theme this year is ‘Catholic Schools: Living Life to the Full’. We will have announcements over the intercom and a competition for Grandparents day where Students will get to write a letter to their grandparent and win them a prise.
