We look forward to welcoming all students in tomorrow for a full school day. 1st Years will start at 9am and all other year groups will be in action at 8.30am as usual! Students can check their timetables on VSware to help them get organised! 
Leaving Cert 2023: Ad Astra Scholarship Reminder: deadline today

The Ad Astra Academy provides a nurturing infrastructure for students who show exceptional potential in academic pursuits, sports or the performing arts. Benefits of the academic scholarship include:

  • A €3,000 bursary each academic year a scholar is in the Academy
  • The support of a dedicated academic mentor
  • A programme of workshops and seminars by academics, distinguished alumni and guest speakers throughout the year to develop the scholars’ academic and personal potential
  • An elective module to undertake in stage two callled Ad Astra Professional & Personal Development
  • Networking and development opportunities
  • Access to the Scholars' Room
  • Team Building events
  • Access to campus accommodation (scholars must pay for this themselves)
The scholarship is tenable for the duration of the undergraduate programme, subject to meeting the criteria for scholarship renewal each year.

To be eligible for the Academic Scholarship, prospective students must receive 6 H1's (or its equivalent) in their leaving certificate in any subjects and must complete an online application by clicking here or via the Ad Astra Academy website on/before Monday, 28th August 2023. The online application consists of a personal statement and a statement of achievement called ‘beyond the classroom’. Eligible applications for shortlisting will be scored only on the basis of their application form, weighting of 60% statement of achievement and 40% personal statement.

The Amber Flag group have updated the tree. This year each class is represented by a heart in their house colour. Staff and Amber Flag members all have their place too.

Reading week as always is an exciting time in OLS. There was library scavenger hunts, pumpkin decorating, design a book cover competition, a Bake-off book display competition as well as plenty of reading time! This year all students placed a leaf on our book tree listing their favourite books, what an amazing display of all different types of books!!

Our First Years got off to a flying start. They participated in a variety of challenges and games to help them get to know each other. Well done a positive start to your OLS journey. A huge thank you to the 6th year leadership team who were on hand to welcome the First Years and well done on organising such an enjoyable day. 
Leaving Cert Results 2023

The Class of 2023 can access their LC results online on Friday 25th August from 10am via the portal. For any student who wishes to do this in school, we will have devices available in Room 1B (under the arch) from 10am - 11.30am. Please see the attached information from the Guidance Department. We wish all our students the very best of luck!!

Hockey update!

August pre season hockey

Well done to all of our current Minor, Junior and Senior hockey players who attended our August pre season training camp over the last three weeks. The attendance has been super and it will give us a great edge as we begin a new season in OLS colours. The girls worked hard on fitness, strength and conditioning and got back up to speed on their hockey skills and really put in the effort which was well noted by Mr Sothern. Looking forward to seeing everyone out in the next couple of weeks as we return to school!
 
Incoming 1st Year hockey
It was wonderful to welcome around 90 of our incoming 1st Year girls to introductory hockey training days over the last two weeks. The girls put in great effort and really made the most of the day while meeting some of their new classmates and coaches and beginning their sporting chapter at OLS. Mr Sothern and Mr Williamson were very impressed with the energy levels of all and look forward to seeing you all again in the next couple of weeks as you begin your time with us at OLS!
