Celebrating Le Cheile Day- Today, Friday 31st March 2023

Today we celebrated Le Cheile Day. The theme this year is ‘Celebrating our Catholic faith’. The Le Cheile Schools Trust have asked schools to celebrate our Catholic faith in some creative and interactive ways to mark this important day.

Throughout the week, there have been a number of competitions taking place linking with the theme.

  • 1st and 2nd years created posters in religion class. These were displayed outside their classrooms, decorating hallways.
  • 3rd and 4th years have written poems in relation to the theme. They applied their knowledge of poetry writing and were given creative freedom to write a poem that exhibit the theme of Catholic faith.
  • 5th and 6th years completed a Google forms which asked three questions:
  1. How have you shown your Catholic faith at home with family?
  2. How have shown your Catholic faith in school with friends and teachers?
  3. What has someone done for you which showed that they were acting upon their Catholic faith?
The common responses have been displayed on the monitors at reception and can be viewed below. It is inspiring to see how we are always striving to live out our Catholic faith and be kind to each other.

Winners to competitions will be announced and presented with a prize today.

There was a sweet treat in the staffroom for all staff at breaktime to mark/celebrate Le Cheile Day among staff.

Happy Le Cheile Day.

It was a pleasure and a privilege to be invited to University College Dublin (UCD) on Wednesday this week for the Entrance Scholars Awards.

UCD Entrance Scholars are first-year students recognised for their academic achievement who have achieved 560 points or more in their Leaving Certificate.  These awards are part of a range of UCD initiatives put in place to recognise exceptional students when they join.

Cross and Passion College had a fantastic six students receiving this award on Wednesday - most schools present had perhaps one recipient. This is a fantastic tribute to our students and our staff who worked so hard over the years together to achieve such success. It is also a tremendously proud achievement for the parents and families of the recipients.

The recipients were Hannah Breen, Eoin Clarke, Hannah Crowley, Halo Domican, Lorcan Murphy and Jill O’Toole.

Many congratulations to all and continued success in the future. We are so proud!
