We were delighted to welcome two speakers from Teach Tearmainn today to speak with our Leaving Cert Applied students about healthy and unhealthy relationships.
Teach Tearmainn is is a non-profit organisation serving women and children who are experiencing domestic violence and abuse.
Our 6th year students have started their Contemporary Issues Task and todays talk has helped Kaitlyn hugely with her project on domestic violence and healthy relationships.
Students were spoken to about red flags in relationships and where help is available if needed.
Both the 5th and 6th year classes will look at ways they can fundraise to support the work of Teach Tearmainn in the coming weeks.
Thank you to 6th year Leaving Cert Applied student Kaitlyn for organising this very important talk for our students today.
Congratulations of to our 5th Year Students of the Month for September 2024.
We were delighted to be able to present each Student of the Month with a certificate and a voucher for Nolan's.
Students who receive this reward have been nominated by their teachers for their positive behaviour, attitude and work ethic.
We strive to encourage all of our students to contribute to their school community in a positive way.
We aim to recognise and celebrate those students who make our school community a more positive place.
Well done to the following students:
5A Layton Wilson and Emma Harris
5B Erica Brunkard and Darragh Taaffe

5D Eleanor Steed and Sam Gaynor
5E Dylan Labuschagne and Emma Redmond
5F Orlaith McCormack and Jack Lawler
Congratulations!
Ms Mills
Our 6th Yr students attended an assembly this afternoon during which there were a number of acknowledgements and presentations made following a successful start to their final year in CPC.
Our Class Ambassadors were formally introduced to the Year Group and were presented with their badges. An important role where each Class Ambassador acts as a link between their fellow peers and their teachers & management ensuring the flow of information. They will also act as good role models in dress, punctuality and behaviour. We wish them well in their new role.
Ms Mills was very appreciative of the support she received during the 5th yr parent evening that was held in school recently. A number of 6th year students were on hand to give their experience of 5th year and offered great advice for the current 5th years as they embark on their journey through Senior Cycle. Students received a kind token of appreciation from Ms Mills.
Our newly elected 6th Yr Student Council reps took some time out of their training today to join us in assembly. These students represent the student body and act as a voice on behalf of their peers. We thank them in advance for their support in promoting the aims and objectives of the school and wish them well in their role.
Finally, we were delighted to present a number of 6th Yr students with 'Student of the Month' Certificates and a voucher for the local Mart coffee Company. This was to acknowledge and reward our students, who were nominated by their teachers, for their work ethic, motivation, dedication, contributions and positive attitude shown over the past few weeks.
Special thanks to Ms Duffy our Career Guidance Counsellor who addressed the 6th Yr students at today's assembly. Ms Duffy shared some excellent and valuable information on college applications and reminded students they could make individual appointments for specific information with either herself of Ms Mc Donnell.
Congratulations to all of today's recipients. Although it is not possible for everyone to have received something today I would encourage all 6th years to continue with the dedication and commitment shown to their work thus far and to those who have engaged in the overall school life in CPC. These students have added to the positive environment created about the school. Well done and thank you.
Our sincere thanks to Garda Sergeant Tom O’Donohoe and Community Garda Jon Brien who spoke with our students this week about the importance of staying safe during the Halloween season. Tom and Jon also spoke about the need to be vigilant about the images a person may have on their phones and the importance of never sharing an inappropriate image. It was an insightful and informative talk. We very much appreciate the time Tom and Jon took out of their very busy schedules to support us.
Shrieks of joy rang through the Assembly Hall as our students received their Junior Cycle Results. Hugs, laughter and phone calls to family marked this lovely celebration of the long hours of study and work put into projects, CBAs and exams that assessed academic performance over the past three years. After enjoying a lovely treat of donuts and juice arranged by Year Head Ms A Burke, students greeted Mr Leonard with cheers as he arrived into the hall with the envelopes of results in his hands. We are delighted that the wait was definitely worth it! Wishing everyone an enjoyable and safe celebration this evening.

Please note the following information from the State Examinations Commission:
APPLICATIONS FOR REVIEW OF RESULTS (APPEALS)
The following conditions apply to applications for a review of Junior Cycle results (appeals):
(i) Applications will be accepted only from the School Authority.
(ii) The SEC does not accept appeal applications or appeal fees directly from candidates, parents or individual teachers.
(iii) With the reintroduction of appeal fees, each appeal review carries a fee of €32 per subject.
(iv) To raise an appeal, the Principal (or authorised representative), must attest that the examination result attained by the candidate is significantly at variance with the school’s considered judgement of the performance of the candidate concerned at the examination in question.
(v) For the reason set out in (iv), the SEC will not accept School or Class based appeal applications.
(vi) A valid appeal consists of both the appeal application form, duly authorised by the Principal, and the payment from the school. Applications received where payment has been made by the candidate/parent will not be accepted.
(vii) It is the school’s responsibility to ensure that the appeal fee is collected from the individual candidates.
If you wish to appeal a Junior Cycle Result please email me on joeleonard@cpckilcullen.com as soon as possible with details of the subject and the reasons why you believe an appeal should be lodged. I will then liaise with the subject teacher and consider previous results to see if a case can be made. We will then arrange payment of the relevant fee to the school. The deadline for making an appeal to me is Monday 14th October.
Many thanks
