Graduation 2021

The class of 2021 will leave CPC Kilcullen very soon. We are extremely proud of this group of students and the way in which they have managed the past two years in particular. They will leave us ready to move on to the next stage of their lives and we wish them well in whatever the future may bring.
Normally, we would be preparing for Graduation in the traditional way it is celebrated in CPC. Obviously, this year is quite different. Tomorrow, Thursday 27th, 6th year students are invited to go to their base classrooms at 1.55pm where they will remain for the afternoon as we mark their graduation from CPC. The public health restrictions mean that the full year group can not gather together and sadly parents and guardians will not be able to join us. We wish things were different.
It is vital that all students continue to follow the familiar public health guidelines. Our collective actions will maintain the safety of all and with the examinations so close it is important that we do not drop our guard even at a significant moment such as a graduation. To that end I am asking students not to mix beyond their base class and to go directly home after the graduation has ended.
We hope that the students will enjoy some of the traditional graduation events as well as some other fun as well. After the event we will make available some recordings to families so that you might watch together at a time that suits.
I would like to thank all of the staff who have put enormous effort into giving the students a memorable graduation in difficult circumstances.
Finally, thank you sincerely to the parents and guardians of our 6th year students for your support of the school throughout the past 6 years.
Best wishes
J Leonard
A Grimm Tale of Cinderella

A fantastic day out was enjoyed by our nine Drama students when they took to the stage in the Moat Theatre, Naas, to perform “The Grimm Tale of Cinderella” by Katie McCann.
The students have been rehearsing the play since late last year with their director Mary McLaughlin and did not let the schools closure stop them, turning instead to Zoom rehearsals when in person classes were paused. The playwright, Katie McCann joined them on one Zoom call to talk to the students about the craft of writing plays and to be an online audience as the cast workshopped a number of scenes from the play.
Having wowed the author of the play with their acting skills, the cast were then delighted to be offered the opportunity to go a step further and perform the whole play together on the stage.
Covid-19 restrictions meant that the production could not be enjoyed “live” by an audience, but the production was filmed and recorded to be enjoyed by all very soon.
Meanwhile, the students got to experience the adrenaline rush of being under the spotlight with full costume and sets in place.
We are sincerely grateful to Celine Garvey (Manager) and Conor O’Connell (Technical Officer) in the Moat Theatre for their wonderful support in allowing us to offer the students this amazing experience while staying within Covid-19 public health regulations.
Despite masks, social distancing and hand sanitisers being the norm, the students came away delighted with what was a very successful and happy day.

Today is Africa Day and CPC Graphics students got to know a little bit more about Africa Day and what it is about. They then brought their new knowledge mixed it with their passion for graphics and designed Graphical Information Posters to let others in the school know about the day.
