Principal’s Update

Welcome back to our 21st year in education at BCS. We hope everybody had an enjoyable and relaxing summer break. Please find below some key reminders to ensure a smooth return for all students as we embark on the new academic year.

School App:

Our school App has proven an invaluable and efficient mode of communication with parents/Guardians & students over the past 10 years.  The Apps’ functions and features continues to be expanded on and includes:

-         Attendance Management System (Absence forms, Late notes, Permission to leave)

-         Booklists

-         School Calendar.

-         School News/Notifications

It is imperative that all Parents/Guardians of BCS have the App downloaded and have created an account to receive all notifications as well as the ability to submit all relevant attendance notifications. Please ensure notifications are always turned on for the school App. Please contact the main school office on (058) 53620 if you have any queries regarding your BCS app account.

Uniform:

The school uniform is an integral part of our school identity and full compliance with the correct wearing of the uniform must be adhered to at all times by our students. We greatly appreciate your cooperation in this matter as there will be no allowance given for any student who comes to school wearing an incorrect uniform. As the cost of uniforms are an annual investment, we do not want parents / guardians spending money on items which will not be accepted as school uniform.

Boys:             Dark Grey Trousers

Black School Jumper with school crest

Grey Shirt

School Tie (to be worn correctly and visible under school jumper)

Black shoes (Black runners are allowed if 100% black, no logos, markings or white soles)

(NB – The School Fleece /Jacket is NOT a replacement for the school Jumper but can be worn over the jumper in winter months if required. No other jacket or garment is allowed to be worn in class.)

Girls:                 Dark Grey Trousers or Skirt (Skirt is to be knee length and ONLY worn with black opaque tights, if a female student refuses to wear a skirt to the appropriate length she will be asked to wear a school trousers as an alternative)

                       Black School Jumper with crest

Grey Shirt

                       School Tie

Black shoes (Black runners are allowed if 100% black, no logos, markings or white soles)

PE uniform is only worn on timetabled PE Days – Older school Hoodies are being phased out and can only be worn by 5th and 6th year students. Please do not purchase if your student is in junior school or TY as they will not be allowed to wear them during the school day.

Yondr Phone Free School:

From the beginning of this academic year BCS is a phone free school. All parents/guardians have been notified of this new system and we greatly appreciate your full support and cooperation in this new initiative.

Back to School Protocol:

1.     Students present to their year assembly in full school uniform (black & grey)

2.     Bring school bag for collection of books

3.     We recommend all students to bring their lunch as no canteen facilities are available until the building project is concluded.

4.     Students will be provided with their PR journal and Yondr pouch.

5.     Social areas and lockers will be assigned, please remember that each student is personally responsible for their locker code.

Looking forward to seeing all students return during the week of August 28th.

Kind regards,

Denis Ring
