Thinking Languages

A group of TY students attended "Thinking Languages" in the Dublin Convention Centre on December 6th. Students attended presentations on the importance of Languages. Keynote speaker TG4 presenter and comedian Hector Ó hEochagáin entertained the audience while also explaining the importance of engaging with languages .

A group of TY Students had a rare opportunity to get an inside view of Google, the workplace, courtesy of our past pupil Georgina Gaughan. The students met Google employees and saw first hand this unique workplace which strongly encourages individuality, teamwork, positivity and creativity.

First year German students learned all about Nikolaustag in class today. It celebrates the feast of St . Nicolas in Germany. They also learned about festive traditions in Austria. Students enjoyed the cultural awareness of the festive day.
Foxford Craft Fair

The Foxford Christmas Craft Fair takes place this weekend in Foxford Sports and Leisure Centre. This is a wonderful event which helps promote local Irish crafts and it gives us an insight into the talent and creativity that is in our local area. Our Transition Year Business Enterprise students have a stall at the Craft Fair and will be selling a variety of handmade products. Please come along and support our students and their mini-companies.

Our Under 17 Girls soccer team were unlucky to lose their Connacht Semi Final yesterday against Lacken Cross. Great display all around. final score 2-1. Congratulations to Lacken Cross!

Students from 1B History were learning about Early Christian Ireland and took a vow of silence for the duration of the class. Brother A was Abbot for the day! Students also practiced the unique building technique of corbelling utilised on beehive huts using coins.
St. Vincent De Paul Food Appeal

We are now collecting food items for our Annual SVP Food Appeal. Items can be brought to Ms. Boland in the Home Economics Room on or before Friday December 13th. Please ensure that all food items are non-perishable and have an expiry date well into 2020. The food items currently requested are: Sweets, Biscuits, Christmas Cakes, Christmas Puddings, Selection Boxes, Mince Pies, Crisps, Popcorn and other confectionery items. Your support would be greatly appreciated and we can make Christmas a happier time for families in our local area.
