Holy Family Secondary School Senior Gaelic Footballers had another comprehensive win in their Leinster championship group today over Ardscoil Rath Iomgháin. With victories already over St. Pauls of Monasterevin and Kildare Town Community School progress to the knockout stages will be guaranteed with a win over Pipers Hill in two weeks time.

Thank you also to DSV for sponsoring the new away strip that was sported for the game.

Well done to all involved.

Our Junior Camogie team played their first ever match against Coláiste Pobail Setanta on 14th October. Setanta were very strong but Holy Family fought gallantly until the end.

3 days later we played Kingswood College. This was an excellent performance in which we lost narrowly to a couple of late goals. Result 9-2 to 8-1

On Tuesday 25th we played our final group game against Holy Family Rathcoole. Again, the girls were very competitive and there was only one score between the teams with 10 minutes remaining but Rathcoole finished strongly. Result 4-5 to 2-1

This is a very young team and every player is underage again next year so they are showing great promise, scoring 11 goals in just 3 games.

A Shield Quarter Final awaits in November.

Last Thursday the 3rd year students enjoyed some tapas in our school. The girls tasted: tortilla de patatas, garbanzos con chorizo, palmeritas, jamón serrano, lomo y chorizo among other flavours. They also took home some recipes with them.

We can’t wait to hear back from our Spanish chefs!

The u16 Gaelic Football team were away to Sacred Heart Tullamore today for their first match of the year. A very wet and miserable day did not stop the HFSS girls from displaying their skills and teamwork. Unfortunately the result did not go our way losing out to a good Tullamore team with a score of 2-3 to 2-11. The girls did their school and clubs proud.

Our 6th year Home Economics students recently studied protein and completed a tasting session of alternative protein foods. They were great sports and tried 10 different products. They reflected on the taste, texture, appearance & aroma of the food products, and they studied the food label to examine the health claims and protein content of each food product.
