Our 1st year rugby girls enjoyed a great day in Portlaoise RFC today for their first North Midlands Blitz against teams from Ardscoil Na Trioniode, Naas, St Kevin's, Maynooth and Confey Community Colleges. The girls really enjoyed the games and developed their new skills throughout the day. We had trys from Beth Joyce, Laylah McHolmes, Ella Kehoe and Hannah Coleman. Some lovely inside passes from Caelainn O'Mullane gained us yards in our attacking play and excellent touch defence from Mila Tuhakaraina and Meabh O'Mahony saw HFSS turn over possession on a number of occasions. Fantastic display of hard work from the girls, most of whom are new to the game!
Thanks to Portlaoise RFC for hosting and Leinster Rugby for organising the event.

On Monday, 19th September, during European Mobility Week, the 4P class were selected to represent their peers at the Walk 21 Forum in the EPIC Museum, Dublin, which is being hosted in Ireland this year. This forum was devised to allow students aged 10-18 years an opportunity to voice their opinions to an international delegate of UN and WHO representatives. Our HFSS students were heavily involved and worked collaboratively with their peers to identify the challenges and positives of walking and they offered solutions, which were collected by the Lord Mayor of Dublin. A most enjoyable day with our 4P students who were commended for their meticulous manners and positive cheer.

Congratulations to our new Class Prefects and Vice-Prefects and to our 6th Year Senior Prefects who received their badges today.

Class Prefects and Vice-Prefects were elected by their peers to this important leadership role to represent their class, and their year group, and serve as a link between their classmates and their tutor, subject teachers and Year Head.

Captains and Senior Prefects play a central role in the life of our school, representing the student body on occasions, acting as role models for the younger students and generally undertaking a leadership role in the school. Those chosen have demonstrated their leadership within the student body and have the qualities deemed necessary to undertake this leadership role. They carry out a number of important tasks. The HFSS School Captain for 2022/2023 is Mia O’Connor. We wish Mia, her Senior Prefect Team and all our Class Prefects and Vice-Prefects the best of luck in their new leadership role in HFSS.
