Dear Parents/Guardians
The beginning of the academic school year is in sight for Second and Third Year pupils.
As parents/guardians of this cohort of students you will have already purchased a significant amount of the schoolbooks and classroom resources required for Junior Cycle. Under the Junior Cycle Schoolbooks Scheme for the 2024/25 school year, any additional schoolbooks and core classroom resources required by students in Second Year and Third Year will now be covered under the new scheme.
All schoolbooks provided under this scheme will remain the property of the school, so that they can be reused in future years. These schoolbooks, therefore, will be provided on loan to students and must be returned to the school at the end of Junior Cycle.
Please remind your children to take care of their schoolbooks and to keep them in good condition during the period that they are in their possession. It is not permitted to write on these schoolbooks.
Second and Third Year pupils and their parents are invited to attend the school, on Monday 19th August between 10am and 2pm, to receive their new schoolbooks and resources. Ms. Conway and Ms. Sheehan will be in attendance to meet parents and students on that day.
In cases where students have siblings in First Year, it is possible to accommodate these particular students on the day the First Year are collecting their materials, if they so wish.
To ensure that the books are kept in good condition all books must be covered. ‘A4 Stationery, Killorglin’ provides this service and will be prepared to facilitate any parents/students who wish to have their books covered professionally. The cost, in this case, is not covered by the scheme.
Parents/students should also note that there may be additional classroom resources required that are not covered by the scheme e.g. photocopying, Home Economics ingredients, etc. A full itemised list of these additional items will be provided to students at the start of the school term.
Many thanks for your co-operation.
Reminder that Jason O'Mahony from Children of the Digital Age is coming in to speak to first years Tuesday Sep 10th about internet safety, and he will speak to parents/family members that evening at 7.30pm in ISK - all welcome to this talk on a very important topic.
