60 of our Transition Year students had the privilege of travelling to Barcelona over the bank holiday weekend.
Our flight out was in safe hands with student Sam O’Reilly getting to try out the captain’s seat in the cockpit! Photo included below.
Upon our arrival we did a half day tour of the city which included a walk around the magnificent Sagrada Familia.
That evening we went to see Barcelona play Real Betis at their home stadium Camp Nou. Despite Barcelona being in a state of drought, it rained from beginning to end of the match. Luck of the Irish!
Our second day saw us return to Camp Nou for a stadium tour, this time in sunshine.
We then visited the science museum CosmoCaixa before returning back to the hotel to spend some time in the outdoor pool.
Our third day was spent in PortAventura theme park.
On our fourth and final day we visited Tarragona where many ancient ruins remain from its time as the Roman colony of Tarraco.
A fantastic trip and experience for all! A huge thank you to the teachers who travelled with us and looked after the lads throughout; Mr.Keating, Mr.Stephens, Mr.Hughes, Mr.Brecknell and Mr.O’Neill.
I have included a gallery of photos from the trip.

Well done to all the third year classes who engaged with the fantastic Energy and Sustainability workshops in recent weeks. The boys learned about sustainability and different types of energy in fun and hands-on workshops with The Rediscovery Centre.

Congratulations to 6th Year Student Ryan Sinkey and the Kildare U-20 Team who claimed a back to back Leinster Title on Tuesday evening, overcoming Dublin after extra time in Netwatch Cullen Park. Congratulations also to Mr. Cribbin who is involved with the Kildare U-20s in his role as selector. There are twelve past-pupils on the Kildare U-20 panel, representing the clubs of Naas, Raheens and Sallins. Sallins Man Colm Dalton scored the equalising point to send the match to extra time.
Ryan Sinkey enjoyed the added accolade of earning the Man of the Match Award for his brilliant performance and contribution of four points from play. A Leinster Title and Man of the Match Award – not a bad return for a Tuesday evening in April!
It was fitting that Kildare faced Dublin in the Leinster Final as it was against the same opposition that Ryan made his debut for the Kildare U-20s in the league. He came on as a sub that day and chipped in with two points. Since then, Ryan has featured as a talisman for Kildare scoring a number of points in each of the five championship games.
Well done to Ryan on this fantastic achievement. We are very proud of you and the Naas CBS past-pupils crowned Leinster Champions with the Kildare U-20s. The future is white!
Best of luck to 6th Year student Ryan Sinkey and our past-pupils who represent Kildare in the U-20 Leinster Final v Dublin this evening at Netwatch Cullen Park. Good luck also to Mr. Cribben who is a selector with the Kildare U-20 Team. A great occasion for the team and the county!
Well done to some of our TY students who took part in the Bank of Ireland Money Smarts Challenge this week in the RDS.
They came away with some vouchers thanks to quick responses to some catchphrase style questions!
A huge thanks to Ms.Lennon for coordinating the group.
