Welcoming our new 1st Year students (Monday 31st August)
Created : 25 Aug 2020, 4:32 PM
Archived : 25 Oct 2020, 12:00 AM
Good evening 1st Year Parents & Guardians,
We are really looking forward to meeting and welcoming all our 1st Year students to Naas CBS on Monday 31st August at 9.00am and not Friday 28th as originally set out in our June letter.
While many things in our school have changed over the last few weeks, what remains constant is the care and support toward our students. We are very lucky to have our 6th Year Meitheal leaders, 1st Year Form Teachers and 1st Year Year-Head with us every morning for the first week of school to offer guidance to the 1st Years. All 1st Year students will be immersed within our Transfer Programme for week one and given plenty of opportunity to familiarise themselves with the school building, the teachers, their new classes, new friends and daily life here in Naas CBS.
We will be sending information about the re-opening of our school and new health and safety procedures to all students over the next few days. As we cannot meet all 174 1st Year students together in the assembly area on Monday, we will be asking that all 1st Year students go straight to their designated classrooms for 9.00am on Monday 31st August. This is the same room 1st Years will go to every morning for week one while they get used to the new school building.
To help direct each 1st Year class to the correct classroom on Monday morning please see a video link below for each class group which will guide every student from the front door of Naas CBS to their designated classroom for each morning of week one. Both the Management Team and Meitheal Leaders will also be at the front door to assist all new students.

Parents & Guardians please be advised that some of our Meitheal leaders will meet 1st Years at the front gate of the school to welcome them as the car park is out of bounds due to Covid-19 restrictions/congestion issues. School will finish at 1.10pm every day next week. Please ensure your son brings a drink and food with him as there will be no canteen facilities available to begin with.
We really look forward to meeting our new 1st Years on Monday.
Kind regards,
The Management Team
Further Update - Return to School
Created : 21 Aug 2020, 2:24 PM
Archived : 21 Oct 2020, 12:00 AM
Dear Parents, Guardians & Students,
We hope this message finds everyone keeping well and looking forward to a return to school. We appreciate that this is a worrying time for everyone and that there are many questions regarding what school life will resemble when we all return to Naas CBS.
We are receiving updates daily from the Department of Education about how to best prepare the school building for staff and students. Some information is changing weekly and we want to ensure that everyone is fully informed about the new protocols that are in place before we return. Important information is due from the Department of Education in the coming days so we hope to send detailed information next week for a safe return to school.
For the moment please be informed that no books will be required on the first day students return to school. We ask that students do not carry unnecessary subject books or copies as they will be moving throughout the day. To ensure the health and safety of the school community we will begin the school year with no locker access for students to avoid congestion but this will be monitored as we move forward. No canteen or water fountain facilities will be available, therefore students will be asked to carry their own food and drinks bottle. Full uniform is required. As the school is constantly being ventilated a jacket may be required and this will be carried with the student from class to class. A one-way system is currently being devised and all staff and students will be given an opportunity to familiarise themselves with this new layout when they return.
We appreciate that this can be a worrying time for all students, especially our new 1st Years but every support is being put in place to ensure that a safe and positive return to school can take place.
Wishing every a lovely weekend,
Regards,
The Management Team

Return to School

Archived : 13 Oct 2020, 12:00 AM
Dear Parents & Guardians,
As we prepare to return to school we want to keep everyone updated. We are following a Road-map from the Department of Education and have a Covid-19 Response Plan in place. We are doing our utmost to provide a safe and caring environment for your son.
Please see below the staggered return dates for each year group. For the first week school will finish at 1.10pm each day for all students, this is to help us acclimatise to the new changes and to review and revise as required. Once your son has returned to school he will continue to return each day following. For example, once the 1st Year students finish their first day on Monday 31st August they will continue to attend. The week of Monday 7th September will see all year groups return to school for full days 9.00am – 4.00pm
· Monday 31st August - Incoming 1st Year Students (9.00am – 1.10pm)
· Tuesday 1st Sept – 6th Year Students (9.00am – 1.10pm)
· Wednesday 2nd Sept - 3rd Year Students (9.00am – 1.10pm)
· Thursday 3rd Sept - 5th Year Students (9.00am – 1.10pm)
· Friday 4th Sept - 2nd Year Students (9.00am – 1.10pm)
· Monday 7th Sept - 4th Year Students (further information to follow)
Fees for the new academic year will go live on the school app from 9.00am on Monday 17th August. School payments must now be paid via the school app and not our previous payments system ‘Easy Payments Plus’. This should make all communications with the school much more accessible to parents/guardians as all school-related materials will be available through the one app. An app message will be sent prior to this date with instructions on how to use our new payments system.
Our communication will be through the school app so please ensure that you have it downloaded and are connected. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact the school.
Kind regards,
Ben Travers
