As part of our JCSP Literacy initiative and to tie in with our DEIS goals, our junior students enjoyed a trip to The Lighthouse cinema. Students watched the Halloween classic with subtitles to support literacy, and some classes are engaging in pre and post-worksheet activities related to the film as well as the below competition.
Junior students, here's a chance to win a €20 cinema voucher in our competition!️
Write a brief review of either "Hocus Pocus" or your recent cinema trip ️️
Thanks to The Lighthouse cinema for hosting us today and to JCSP Librarian, Siobhain for organising the trip.

Last week our TYs and 5th Year Leaving Cert. Applied students, visited the Dept. Of Foreign Affairs, for a careers and coffee morning. Staff explained to them their job roles and their own educational and careers paths to date. A big thanks to Olive Ojo from NEIC / NCI for organising the trip and to the Dept. of Foreign Affairs staff, for giving freely of their time, to our students.
For Maths week, students in different year groups, got engaged in various Maths activities. There was a daily picture challenge (which was one of the following: picture of either patterns, lines and angles, shape and number) for using your Maths 'Eyes', and emailing your teacher a revelant picture. Students and teachers enjoyed trying to get the target number, with a 'Countdown' challenge and 2nd year students went back to basics with 'Time', learning how to read the analogue clock. 1st year students played Bingo. Pictured here are the TY students doing a practical activity on tallying and bar charts, by viewing the different coloured cars, passing along Kings Inns St. and Bolton St.
Last week, our TY students were back in Carlingford Adventure Centre and had the usual fun-filled experience there. Apart from completing their 25km Gaisce walk, they did the Nightline, Carlingford indoor challenge, along with the Zipline and Paddleboarding - two activities which our students had never tried before. The 3 day/ 2 night trip gave the class a great bonding opportunity, outside of the school setting. A big thank you to Ms. Murray and Ms. Geoghegan who accompanied the students on the trip, as well as the staff in Carlingford, for doing a super job as always, looking after our students.
