Students recently enjoyed the Develop Me workshops where they worked in groups to solve puzzles and develop their team work skills. These workshops led to important insights on the importance of sharing resources, teamwork and cooperation.
We were glad to welcome back David Collins from The Fundamentals for the remaining class workshops. Students engaged very well and identified leadership qualities within themselves and others which will prove a valuable foundation for the move to 5th Year Leaving Certificate Programmes.
We were delighted to welcome poet Stephen Murray, www.inspireland.ie recently. Stephen worked with our TY students giving them the opportunity to find new and creative ways to express themselves. This has been a very rewarding experience, especially for those who have not considered poetry as a mode of expression for themselves in the past. The students produced some really evocative poems.
Our TY students were very happy to board the bus for Causey Farm on Thursday last. It was a day of laughter and enjoyment as students engaged in a variety of tasks such as bread making, Irish dancing and most fun of all, bog jumping!!
Our thanks to Mr Potterton and all those involved in transforming our school forest into the beautiful place it is today by cleaning, setting and creating paths along with installing bug hotels and signage. A poplar tree that had fallen was used to create three signs under the guidance and supervision of Mr Potterton. The sign with our school name was created by James Reid and Liam Wynne. The sign using the Irish language was made by Lee Tyrrell Byrne and Caden O’Brien. The sign using Ogham which is read from the bottom up and translates to our school motto, Domine Noverim Te, ‘Lord That I May Know You’ was created by Harry Chen, Taylor Maxwell, Thomas Neale, Jamie Maly, Evan Jordan and David Nolan. Well done to everyone involved.
