Sports Day 20th September

With the weather looking pleasant for tomorrow Sports day will go ahead barring any changes. Students are allowed to wear their PE uniform in for the day. First class will take place as usual so students are expected to have all of their books. There will be a selection of fun inflatables available on the day at a cost of €1 for unlimited gos. A selection of ice creams will also be available for €1. It is advised that students wear sun cream with the expected warm weather.

Cycle Against Suicide student training

Congratulations to Mia Whelan, Amy Bermudez and Oran Linehan who represented the school at the Cycle Against Suicide training in Dublin Castle. Supported by their teacher Ms Anne O'Connell Mia, Amy and Oran will work with our school community to improve our mental health and well being. We look forward to participating in this initiative.

We were delighted to welcome Denis and Noeleen from Autism.ie this morning. They spoke about Autism and how people with Autism contribute to and need support from society. We are looking forward to to raising awareness and funds during Autism Awareness Week 7th to 11th October.

2nd year art student take part in DesignsSKILLS inititative

CPC 2nd year art students were accepted to take part in a creative initiative run by the Creative Ireland Programme, JCT, the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland and the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment. This initiative wishes to document, celebrate and promote creativity in the classroom. Students will work with a professional artist in the classroom to learn about design.
Award winning photographer visits TY photography students.

TY photography students welcomed award winning photographer Hazel Coonagh. Hazel has worked with actors such as Aidan Gillen, TV personalities and theatre campaigns like the Dublin Frindge Festival. She discused her career path from school to college, internships and career pathways, with the students. Her talk was well received.

U14 Kildare County Camogie Development Squad Success

Congratulations to Siofra Munnelly (Moorefield) 3rd year, Kate Whelan (St Laurences) 2nd year and Nichola Whelan (St Laurences) 2nd Year on their success as part of Kildare County Camogie Development Squad since February last. They participated in several blitzes and won three finals. Their yeam reached the semi final in the U14 All Ireland Blitz on Saturday 7th September. They also represented the county at the half time parade at the All Ireland Camogie Final on Sunday 8th September. Well done!!
