The Mini Company county final was streamed live on YouTube this morning. One of our groups won the award for Best Innovation (Mark O Daly, Callum Corcoran, Dylan Beecher Flynn, Jack Walsh) from Ms LeahKiersey's class. The other group from Mr Conor Murray's , Sweet Chaos Designs (Kate Brien, Grace Hornibrook, Caoimhe Coughlan, Mia Quilty) were nominated for the Best Use of Social Media. Reminder for entries for our photography competition for national tree week. Send them in asap! We might not all have the space to plant a tree but there are other options. GIY Ireland are running a campaign to encourage us to grow our own food. They are giving away 50,000 seed packs, each pack contains a variety of seeds. Reminder to students and staff to send in your entry for our tree competition. Some lovely entries have already been sent it. Please send to ann.osullivan@blackwatercs.com or sheena.wilkinson@blackwatercs.com before Friday. As part of National Tree week, Tiernan Stevenson, 3rd year, planted an ash tree on behalf of the school. He obtained the tree in February 2020 for the school from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine when he displayed his BT Young Scientist project in Johnston.

Green Schools National Tree Week

This week we are marking National Tree Week by having a photography competition. The theme of the competition is “Trees” The photo must have a tree in it...whether it is a tree on its own like a mighty oak or a grove of ash trees, you can have people and objects or other plants - you can decide. So get out and enjoy the good weather and take a snap or 2 as you go. This competition is open to students and staff with a selection of prizes to be won. Please send your entries with your name and class to ann.osullivan@blackwatercs.com or sheena.wilkinson@blackwatercs.com by this Friday March 26th. Best of Luck everyone

Dear Parents and Guardians, On Thursday, the 25th of March , our teachers have an Online Junior Cycle training Day for each of their respective subjects. However, as it is online they are going to take their 5th year and 6th year classes in person in school but will not be in a position to teach any other classes that day. Therefore , 1st, 2nd,3rd& TYs will not have class on that day. Kind Regards, Denis Ring
