Message re School Reopening

Archived : 12 Jan 2021, 12:00 AM
Dear Students & Parents, I hope that this message finds you well and that you had a good Christmas break. In compliance with the Government’s announcement of an extension of the Christmas holidays until Monday 11th January, the school will not reopen this Wednesday. We hope that we will be able to return as planned next Monday, but we will have a clearer sense of that later this week. If the school is to remain closed, we will move to online learning as outlined in our Online Learning Plan (www.taylorshill.ie/downloads/OLP_web.pdf) and will arrange times for students to come to the school to collect their books. I wish you a happy 2021 and hope that you continue to remain safe and well. Regards, Alan Kinsella
Preparation for a Possible Move to Online Tuition

The current expectation is that schools will not reopen as planned next Monday and we will move to online tuition. While a final decision will be made by the Government tomorrow (Wednesday), we are eager to ensure that our students are in a position to begin online tuition on Monday should that be the case. Should you wish to wait for confirmation of the Government’s decision before collecting books, please do so, however, the school will be open tomorrow for anyone who would like to collect them. Also, in order to allocate Chromebooks to students who may need to borrow one, we must to begin the procedure as soon as possible. With this in mind, please note the following arrangements: Collecting Books from the School: • Students wishing to collect books and other belongings from the school can do so this week at the following times: Wednesday 10am – 4:30pm; Thursday 10am – 4:30pm; and Friday 10am – 2pm. Only a limited number of students will be allowed into the building at any one time, they must socially distance and wear face masks. Please do not arrive in large groups as we want to ensure the safety of all in the school, students and staff. The school building will not be open after this Friday so it is important that all necessary books and resources are collected this week. Borrowing Chromebooks: • If students do not have access to a computer/laptop to carry out their school work – or have to share one with a number of people in their household, they may borrow a Chromebook from the school for the duration of the school closure. If you wish to do so, please complete the form at this link as soon as possible: forms.gle/VaxZMaPgDto7uf2G7 but no later than 4pm this Thursday. We hope to distribute the devices on Friday. Online Learning Plan: • The school will follow the online learning plan and the online learning timetable which each student received a copy of earlier in the year. The plan is available on the school website and the timetable will be posted on the app and website over the next day or so for those students who do not have a copy of it.
