Congratulations to Gráinne Duggan and Caitlín Ní Shúlleabháin on winning third place in the group prize for the senior section of Chemistry, Physics and Maths. They were also awarded the Eli Lilly award for best overall project in Chemistry or Biotechnology for their project

Sion Hill Environment Committee reps carried out an action day event at lunchtime to highlight their energy-saving campaigns. The junior students are encouraging pupils to switch off their phones & not charge them throughout the night "Sleeping Beauty". The senior girls are asking students to "Give 1 Back" by reducing energy consumption by just one hour each day. Pupils signed a number one pledge and pinned it to our polar bear notice board to help rebuild our iceberg.

Best of luck to two of our 6th Year Students, Grainne Duggan and Caitlin Ní Shúilleabháin, who have a project in the Young Scientist Exhibition. Their project,'Using UVC Photometry to Measure the Caffeine Content of Various Drinks', will be on display at the exhibition until Saturday.

The final Senior book club meeting took place last week with a visit from two special guests, Sr Helen and Sr Bláthnaid. The 5th and 6th year students enjoyed discussing their favourite books of 2017 with the Dominican Sisters.

Our sixth and first year English classes thoroughly enjoyed a Collaborate Christmas Class where they worked together to discuss what the perfect present would be for their favourite literary characters!
A time for giving

A group of 5th year students in conjunction with the Saint Vincent de Paul and with the help of the Student Council delivered 200 ‘Care packages’ to the parents of sick kids and babies today in Crumlin and The National Maternity Hospital. They were supported by local businesses and also by the kind donations from students, parents and staff. Thank you so much to all who made it possible

Dominican College Sion Hill were honoured to have been asked to sing at Paul Byrom’s Fundraising Concert for the Laura Lynn Foundation on Monday 18th December in Monkstown Church.. The choir accompanied Paul Byrom as well as singing their own Christmas songs. It was a magical evening for all involved

The Senior and Leaving Cert Choirs and Orchestra sang at their annual St Vincent de Paul appeal in the Radisson Hotel in Stillorgan on Sunday the 17th of December. An enjoyable day was had by all.

This week Sion Hill has hosted a variety of talent from all years who took part in the Annual 'Christmas Factor' talent show, hosted by the Arts Committee. At lunch time each day the students have gathered in the Concert Hall to watch a range of performances.
Mind, Body, and Soul Positivitea Lunch

On Friday the 15th of December the MBS Committee organised a Positvitea event for students to help raise money for Focus Ireland. The committee organised a tea and biscuits with a chill-out area in the Atrium. A ‘Postivitea’ Hamper is also up for grabs and the winner will be announced on Friday the 22nd of December. Thank you to all who contributed to this worthy cause.
