4 Sapphire were flower arranging on Tuesday 24 November. Each student made a festive door wreath to take home. They were guided by our very own Rachel Hayes. Well done girls and thank you Rachel for sharing your skills.
Neat Streets Campaign

Sion Hill’s environment committee are delighted to be taking part in the Neat Streets litter & waste program for secondary schools. Our project hopes to raise awareness about the issue of face masks being dumped as litter in our local community. Our committee representatives applied for the Neat Streets grant & were successful. We hope to buy some sustainable eco friendly reusable masks to use as prizes in our campaign.

On Wednesday evening, the school welcomed the trophy recipients from the class of 2020 for a short, socially distanced presentation of their school awards. We commend these students for their achievements and we wish them every success as they embark on the next exciting stage of their educational journey.

To mark StandUp week, the student council spread rainbow flags throughout the school. Rainbows remind us of possibilities, opportunities and hope. The colours of the rainbow come together to produce one light. In our school, we celebrate diversity and, like the rainbow, we walk together in strength.

Children talk about lockdown issues at TED talk event

Children have been talking about issues that emerged for them during lockdown and about the importance of children's rights at an online event. The Child Talks event, from the TED Talk series, was dedicated to children and young people. Children's Ombudsman Dr Niall Muldoon said the event gave a unique voice to young people's inspiring stories and issues they feel concerned about during the pandemic to date. All TY's classes recently completed a nature themed scavenger hunt. They were tasked with finding a feather, tree bark, a rock, twig, 4 different types of leaves, a pine cone and a wild flower. They also had to include "Something straight, something round, something smooth, something rough".
Penalty Shootout for Concern

The Students took on the Teachers in a penalty shootout today to raise funds and awareness for @concern. Despite the best efforts of the teachers, students emerged victorious. #wellbeing #sport #giving @lecheiletrust
