After school study resumes this week

After school study has resumed this week here in Tarbert comprehensive. It is a service that has become established down through the years and one that is very much appreciated by students, especially those in exam years. Pupils have the opportunity to get the bulk of their homework done and so avoid the inconvenience of bringing home extra books and copies. Sometimes it’s hard to motivate teenagers, once they get home and relax, that they have to abandon the couch and disappear to their rooms to get school work completed. Students can avoid all this by staying on till 6.15 and completing their learning, knowing that once they get home they can chill out or get on with their revision. We run the service 4 days a week with no study on Wednesdays. Starting at 4.15 and finishing at 6.15, students will have a 10 minute break at 5.10. There is no bus service at 6.15 so pupils will need to be collected. The cost is €13 for the week If you are a student thinking of coming why not ask Mr.Trench for details and discuss it with your parents. It’s a decision very few students regret.

Today we raised the red flag. We are using this Flag to symbolize the red card we at Tarbert Comprehensive are showing to racism. We are flying the red flag today because we do not agree with racism. We are flying the red flag because we are saying we will stand up against racism. We are wearing red and we are flying the red flag today because we are saying we do not want Racism in our school. We are saying in Tarbert Comprehensive we are all equal and we deserve to be included. Raheem Sterling said ‘ Speaking up doesn’t always make life easier. But easy never changed anything’ Today we say we don’t want an easy life, we want change. We want racism to stop.

Day 4 - The Racial Equality Flag
Created : 12 Nov 2020, 4:52 PM

Today we have raised the Racial Equality Flag. With this flag we celebrate all all skin colours and we recognize that there is only one human race. No matter what our skin colour in Tarbert Comprehensive we are all equal and we should all be included. Nelson Mandela once said ‘No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin or his background or his religion. People must learn to hate, and they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.’ So ask yourself have you learned to hate or have you learned to love.
