Today memebers of our student council have raised the Rainbow Pride Flag. This flag is used worldwide to symbolize the overall LGBTQ community. Today we celebrate the LGBTQ community of Tarbert Comprehensive. No individual is defined by one strand of their being. Just like the colours that make up a beautiful rainbow there are many colours to what make us human. Whether someone else likes boys or girls or both has nothing to do with how kind, intelligent, caring, or valuable they are. In Tarbert Comprehensive we are all equal and we should all be included. Being different gives the world colour. Don’t be the cloud that blocks out the rainbow.
Focus Week - Building Belonging

As part of `Building Belonging ` focus week Transition year students took part in `Dont Judge a Book By Its Cover` Each student was given a covered library book and asked to read for ten minutes. Then students were asked would they like to continue reading that book and 60% said they would.Those students then removed the cover and were then asked would they have chosen that book based on its cover page and only 20% said they would. Students acknowledge how this also applies when we meet someone new that sometimes we can be very quick to judge but by just talking the time to get to know someone might result in a new friend for life.

A reminder that as Junior students you have access to your school textbooks. on line through your school gmail account. You should not be carrying your textbooks home. Take a look at the following pictures. Act wisely and protect your backs. Copybooks only in your school bag. Absolutely no need to have heavy bags.
Focus Week - Building Belonging

Today we have raised the rainbow infinity sign. A symbol of our neurodiversity, in other words a symbol of our different ways of learning and thinking. We use this symbol to celebrate our different abilities, both intellectual and physical. We are not all the same, and we have different ways of being. We are diverse. In Tarbert Comprehensive we are all equal and we should all be included Diversity is being invited to the party but inclusion is being asked to dance. Inclusion starts with ‘I’. Ask yourself are you diverse enough to ask someone to dance. Are you diverse enough to include difference?

Transition Year Sea Swim and Geography Trip

Transition Years braved the cold and headed for a sea swim in Ballybunion last Friday followed by a field trip with Mr.Trench looking at coastal geography including sea arches , blow holes , sea stacks and coastal erosion . Learning outside the classroom at its best
