'Well' done everyone

“WELL” Done Everyone Students, staff and management all contributed to building a better future for a village community in Africa. As a school community together we raised €1,300 to purchase a “well” for a village in Africa through Concern Worldwide. Many students and staff fasted from food, social media or talking; others including management contributed to the collection or supported those fasting. 4B and the School Community Development prefects organised the collection. This is a truly incredible gift. Our village well makes a lasting difference by providing a safe source of drinking water for an entire community. A healthy well free of contaminants saves lives. It’s a long term investment because a safe well reduces the community’s vulnerability to future droughts or floods a build a better future. “Well” done everyone.

We are delighted to announce that some of our students have won the Euorscola 2019 Video Clip Competition for the Midlands-North-West constituency and will be representing Ireland at Euroscola in Strasbourg next year. The main purpose of the competition was to get students thinking about Europe and the environment and what the European Parliament can do. Congratulations in particular goes to fourth-year student Fred O'Sullivan who put the video clip together with a focus on the need to encourage carpooling. A class group of 24 students from the fourth year European studies programme will get the chance to travel to Strasbourg in 2020 and experience being an MEP for the day.
