Blackwater CS played the final round of the group stages of the Harty Cup vs De La Salle College Waterford on Wednesday 20th November. In absolutely atrocious conditions both teams served up a good competitive contest.
De La Salle started better and raced into a 5 point lead. Blackwater began to get to the pace of the game as the first half wore on, leaving the half time score 0-7 to 0-3 in De La Salle’s favour.
After the change of ends, Blackwater really took the game to De La Salle and after 52 minutes had closed the gap to 2 points, 0-10 to 1-5. In the frantic closing exchanges, Blackwater laid siege to the De La Salle goal and were unfortunate not to convert some opportunities.
While disappointed to have exited after the group stages, the panel of players have done their school proud and can be very pleased with their efforts. As results have shown, this has been a very competitive group and there has been very little between the teams.
We would like to wish our 6th year students all the best in their future sporting endeavours and thank them for the service they have given to the school over the course of their time in Blackwater CS.
