Hi All,
I would like to sincerely thank all the stakeholders of BCS this week. We have had assemblies with all years , a full staff meeting, Pastoral care meeting, Board of Management meeting, Parents’ Council and Students’ Council meetings as well as several senior management meetings on their own and with the Year Heads.
This has been in response to the JC announcement and requirement to have assessments and corrections completed by the 29th of May.
Thanks to everyone for engaging in our consultative process. We are glad to say that all end of year assessments are finalised in a manner that isn’t too taxing on our students and ensures that online computer devices can be shared among siblings to complete the respective exams.
We are glad that the weighting we have placed on the various elements of continuous assessment in all cases is extremely fair and transparent for all to see.
We are delighted that clarity has been achieved for our JC students in particular in recent days and we hope it has done much to remove further unnecessary stress from their lives .
Teachers will further clarify the requirements and practicalities of their upcoming online assessments during the coming week. You have all received your exam timetables and respective weighting of marks from Miss Maria O’Brien today . Your Programme coordinators likewise will forward you their respective assessment details!
However, our thoughts and energies return now to continuing to support our LC students through the terrible ordeal they are experiencing. We can assure you that everything will be done to smoothen your pathway to the State Examination finish line in July/August. The constant media speculation is further contributing to student and parental stress. I can assure you we will communicate with you immediately once the precise LC details emerge from the current confusion. Then we will design a
Plan of Action to prepare you for the challenge ahead. I wish everyone a peaceful and relaxing Bank Holiday weekend!
Ni neart go cur le chéile,
Denis Ring

We are delighted with so many students, teachers, parents and friends of BCS joining our strava club account. In order for the club admins to be able to total up the distances covered by all the club members it would be great if you could grant permission to the account called MayTheRoadRiseToMeetYou BCS on the strava app. This account will be disabled at the end of the month. Thank you for all your support.

To the Principal /Examination Secretary
RE: COVID-19 - Clarification on payment of Examination Fees 2020
The SEC would be grateful if you would bring the following information to the attention of your examination candidates/parents/guardians:
Leaving Certificate Fees: The closing date for payment of the Leaving Cert examination fee is being extended until after the exams are complete and the results has issued.
Junior Certificate/Cycle Fees : Students will not be required to pay an examination fees to the SEC in relation to the 2020 Junior Cycle examinations, the SEC will be issuing a refund to all students who have already paid. There is no need to contact the State Examinations Commission as refunds will be made automatically. Further details will be sent to all schools in the coming days.
