Interested in a   four-week Body/Mind and Breath programme for all parents/careers beginning on October 11. The programme is currently running in Dungarvan  and  each week all participants are attending it, really enjoying it and getting the benefits from it.  I’m excited to bring this to West Waterford.

If any parents/careers  are interested, they can contact Sinead Fahey  on 086 136 1800 to register.

What are the benefits:

The benefits of the programme is to give the tools to be able to feel calm, especially when worried or upset.  Breath and movement exercises will help with the following:

  • Be able to calm and regulate ourselves when we feel upset, worried or angry.
  • Release any bodily tension, stress and anxiety that we may feel
  • Increases energy and boosts immunity
  • Feel more positive emotions like laughter, joy and hope.

Barnardos Wellbeing Programme will run for four weeks will take place on Friday mornings at 10.00am until 11.00 am in West Waterford Community Family Hub, Market House, Cappoquin.

Green Schools - National Walk to School Week 7th - 11th October

On Wednesday October 9th we are asking students, parents and staff to participate in our Walk on Wednesday! If you live in town we ask that you make the effort to walk/cycle or if you travel in a car, that you park in the community centre car park and walk from there. Many students do this every day but we would like to promote and encourage it further.

Our Park and Stride location is Lismore Community Centre and staff and members of the Green Schools committee will be there to assist in the group walk to school.

Meeting time: 8:15-8:20am

Walk to School Week in line with BCS Wellbeing week promotes walking and encourages as many students as possible to walk or Park & Stride to school. Walking to school is one of the best ways to start the day with multiple benefits to children’s physical and mental health. What’s more, walking is great for the environment by reducing the number of cars at the school entrance, reducing congestion, air pollution and road safety issues.

We thank you for your support!
