Important Covid Update

Dear Parent/ Guardian There has been no confirmed case of Covid 19 in the school from the HSE. Some students have identified themselves as being a possible contact with a confirmed case out side of the school. As a precaution these students are remaining at home. Have you honed your baking skills during lockdown? Then enter the Kenwood Young Baker competition in association with the Association of Teachers of Home Economics. There are two categories: Junior (1st - 3rd Year) and Senior (4th - 6th Year) with plenty of brilliant runner-up prizes too. Leaving Certificate 2020 students and parents can contact the @NPCpp helpline on 1800 265165 every day this week between 11am and 4pm for support, assistance and advice. All queries will be dealt with by qualified guidance counsellors from the Institute of Guidance Counsellors IGC.

During TY2 Business Module we discussed the importance of supporting and shopping local. Apples are in season at the moment and students tasted and enjoyed an Apple grown in Costin’s Orchard in Cappoquin. A box of these apples can be purchased for only €5!!!! Zero food miles good for our environment and a tasty snack.

Great work going on in class today as T.Y. 2 students put the finishing touches on their chosen entrepreneur that they studied. Watch out for their creations which will be hanging in Ms McGann’s classroom.

While we’re doing our best to get Covid19 messaging across on radio, we’re looking for YOUR help to get it across on video. Here at WLR, along with Waterford City and County Council, we’re asking you to create a short video on how Waterford people can continue to reduce the spread of Covid19 – be it by wearing masks, social distancing or reducing social circles.
