Hard luck to our u-15 Munster champions who were beaten 3-1today by Balbriggan in the All-Ireland semi final. We scored first but went 2-1 down and were well in the game but they scored in the last 5 mins when we were chasing the game. Tough one lads but well done on a great season. ⚽️

Please join us on Friday March 29th in library place Killorglin at 1pm for a one minute silence to stop Climate Change
Declan Crowley spoke to our students last Friday on stopping climate change and the upcoming 1 minute silence in library place, next Friday March 29th. Declan told pupils if they choose to give up their lunchtime to attend they will stand shoulder to shoulder with other young people and their teachers from the Killorglin Community College and Scoil Mhuire. The local old folks clubs have been notified and will hopefully bring their grandchildren. Local businesses have been informed and all this in an effort to draw attention to climate change. Trócaire works in an area of climate issues called climate justice, the theme for the minutes silence is called land rights. Declan asked the pupils "who is going to protect the forests, who is going to protect the streams, who is going to protect the oceans?? You are!" he told them.
Declan is a member of The Kerry Sustainable Energy Co-Operative since 2017 and told pupils about the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland , he talked about reducing emissions in Killorglin. He told them of a new project just beginning locally - an energy map for Killorglin and invited pupils who are interested in energy mapping, energy consumption or climate change to become involved in the project and said he would put them in touch with the Energy Co-Op if they so wished. He told the pupils that the Intermediate School Killorglin has a proud history in climate activism and how the story of climate activism at the ISK began on the 22nd April 2016 when the pupils of the Intermediate School and the Killorglin Community College marched through the streets of Killorglin demanding to 'stop climate change , the theme was ‘water’. On the 9th March 2017 they marched again to the centre of town this time it was'building bridges', last year on the 24th March it was for ‘climate justice’. Declan gave due regard to Greta Thunberg and her call for climate activism and told them how proud he was that they were there in 2016, 2017, 2018 and asked them to do it again in 2019. Declan pointed out that climate change is a moral problem and that we have a duty to step out from the crowd and take action. Anyone who can support this great cause please join us on March 29th at 1pm for a one minute silence in library place Killorglin.
